@EUCommission Allow unlocking the bootloaders would stimulate clean and safe OS alternatives, longer life for devices and independence from US tech. The EU could enforce it with the impulse of the EC. Stop #enshitification.
@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu Since the EC also wants "Big Tech" to scan all communications with AI and track users continuously under the supervision of kafkaesque bureaucracy, who will control this feed if #chatcontrol is approved?
@sirwumpus@tilde.zone@nixCraft@mastodon.social I think it's more serious than that. Open source cannot escape cryptographic signature verification that can be required for remote services.
@EUCommission Cheap energy from coal then oil drove the industrial revolution, and now is the time to acknowledge it was an historical anomaly.
Instead the EC proposes measures to reduce bills through financial tools without a real change of politics: a smoke curtain.
@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu The Commission's digital policy has shown it's ready to sell off citizen's rights and security with chat-control, digital omnibus and what not.
This partnership just seem to be in the same vein: more digital ID, AI etc. Too bad, such partnerships could be so much more than this business as usual.
@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu 80 years of peace within members of the EU is indeed remarkable.
Unfortunately the current EC does not show great "dialogue" skills. For example the orange guy in Washington easily won recently, with a score of 15% against 0.
@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu So for the EC, the protection of citizen is about one thing *only*: sexual use, like "nudification apps" and child protection.
What about looting human knowledge, manipulating opinions, slopify everything, taking control of businesses and institutions and a zillion of other juicy business and political "opportunities"? That's OK, as long as citizen "feel safe".
Call us stupid, that will be shorter.
