Luna in deep blue skies last night right before the clouds rolled in. Isn't she gorgeous? These were the last views before it was completely covered... what a gift nature can be.

So, I obtained a Seestar telescope last night and took my first batch of stacked pictures with it while we had a break in the stars.
Here is the Pinwheel Galaxy Messier 101 located in Ursa Major. This is about... 60 pics stacked, we had clouds rolling through but so far, I am tickled pink.

Hey everybody, meet the newest member of Dobviews. See this tiny device in front of Matilda... this is Quark. He is quite a bit smaller than Matilda standing behind him but he captures some awesome views!
Quark is a Seestar S50 and is able to take multiple pictures of the same area of the sky and stack those photos. After almost 220 pictures taken tonight it stacked this view of the Pinwheel Galaxy located in Ursa Major!

@bluejay The libration of the moon will be greatest for the Western Edge on Sept 26th at 12AM. You should be able to obtain a great view of Carroll Crater just on the very edge. I will make a video for this tomorrow. 🔭🤓

I made Rise with Crochet Yarn and gave him away at the end of my John Glenn Astronomy Presentation last night, he was a hit with the kiddos.
I have a feeling I will be making a bunch of these guys for giveaways this year. 🤣

@stargazersmith You might as well be hunting for a needle in a pack of needles. 🤣 Hope this gave you the view you wanted. If I have clear skies again this week I will try to capture Petavius with the 2.5mm.
Best viewing date for Carroll Crater in 2026.

The Pinwheel Galaxy-
Captured amongst a sea of stars the spiral galaxy (also known as Messier 101) is located about 21 million light-years away. The Pinwheel Galaxy is known for its striking arms spiraling outwards from the core.
M101 is filled with bright nebulae and young blue stars located here above the Big Dipper's handle in Ursa Major.

@stargazersmith I love my Dob, I have eased travel a bit by having a hand dolly cart. When separated the barrel weighs about 30 lbs and the base is about 35 lbs. Then I just assemble and roll Matilda out to where I want her. I must admit carrying her when I first got her in 2023 was back breaking for me! 🤪
This one folds down into a small flat object that takes less space when traveling. I would suggest getting one with larger wheels for going up stairs to a porch or observation deck though.

@bluejay I have not used Quark for anything except the galaxy pics of Pinwheel so far. Matilda IMHO just cannot be beat for capturing her true beauty. I may set up Quark on Thursday when I have clear skies again for a moon capture but I jist can't imagine there being anything better than Matilda. When it comes to the moon, she owns it! 🫠

@jchaven Luna always steals the show! I am extremely lucky to be able to capture her beauty and share it. Thanks for the compliment on my photography. ☺️
