mastodon 4.3.5

adults + minors: use reader discretion, at cw posts.

usually nothing explicit, but mentions or discussions of adjacent stuff. still some of you may not want to read it.

I teach shibari since 2010 and do a lot of things around it for a living: performance, sessions, rigging for other people's projects.

I do art beyond ropes: film, performance, music and instalation.

"I do", not "I am": nothing good nor precise comes after the verb 'to be' in identity form.

ergo: queer is action, not a label, gladly defying definition.

no pronouns, grey hair. #Berlin, DE

Want: learn+do intersectional inclusion, not discuss it for hours.

music: @GubbiAnn@mastodon.art

probably gender repulsed or agender.

ageism rubs me the wrong way, sp. from queers. you should know better than reproduce exclusion and platitudes.

selfie of me, looking slightly below the camera to avoid eye contact (but let me know if I should change it). the non binary flag composes the background.

pronouns, part 1:

none. sometimes dynamic.

pronouns, part 2:

trouble with pronouns incl. my own (and a lot of other linguistic troubles) when using oral form of a language (seldom happems in writen form). I apreciate corrections, but zealots stay away, i know the point already.

I think i spent months, years, in this old/new mastodon instance posting about shibari and workshops without a single picture.

A mix of laziness, not being online so much anymore and not wanting to feed the "engaging" mindset.

Today i post what we did at my last sunday's rope workshop in Berlin.

Participants wanted to do bamboos, not think in patterns, and learn how to think about structure and putting things in place in a sound and painless way, but no patterns nor cooking recipes. A lot of anatomy white magic (aka taking the time to behold how people's bodies are indeed different).

I don't like when rope goes unnecessarily complicated, e.g. bamboos without a function, randomly added (spoiler: a function could be adding beauty, pain, tension, relief, absurdity, and all those live in the eye of the beholder).

my personal tying is usually messier/noisier. For teaching I use a cleaner, casual, down to earth style for clarity.

So, what is the linux distro to look into, succeeding to debian? I use debian for so long i would prefer not to relearn a new type of wheel..

I want foss, and by the way, how do i know if any of the pending software has ai hiding in it?

Now that the limits and the citadel walls are crumbling.

People going hysterical over freddie mercury's 80th birthday and the associated release of the song book.

Maybe it is me being grumpy, but if he was alive probably most queers would be complaining endlessly about boomers and gay or cis privilege etc.

Sometimes i think the only way to not be criticized these days is to be in the same place as freddie mercury (the past).

He never outed himself. I think ppl nowadays would not forgive that. For me the world was easier when he was around (maybe because i was barely starting adulting) and back then you could inspire by megatons without outing yourself.

Fun fact. Actually some people can still inspire megatons without outing themselves nowadays. You just have to do or say meaningfull things, or, imagine, just be kind.

@edavies@functional.cafe @disorderlyf@todon.eu @quixoticgeek@social.v.st i used to do solar (cells research), literally 30 years ago, and things changed. For the better. The yields nowadays are.. unexpected better than predicted back then, and oil companies buying solar companies did not kill solar. While i did research on solar, i know very little on the hardware around it and prices and brands. I see the kw price tumbling down and many exciting posts like this one, probably still below the cut line for me: i live in a rented flat in germany (sun, what is that?) so without possibility to feed the network, only feeding computers, fridge, radios, or batteries. If anybody wants to point me to a "get started" thing to read on conventional panel instalation, costs and what to buy (inverter? batteries?) There used to be also these polymer solar cells with low yield that were light, translucid and good looking and one could use as curtains. Are they still around?

@Artemis201 i had a dramatic and agonixing choice process proritizing similar things this summer and i was looking into all rugged phones (actually i wanted battery life, and i wanted that it doesnt become os incompatible too fast) and i was looking for possibilities under 140 eu. I ended up buying a huge zte because of the camera quality argument and because i went stingy (120 eu) only to find out that the camera is shitty anyway and i should have gotten the rugged ones. i dont have the brands in my head anymore but if you want i can try to reconstruct it for you. Let me know. Edit: i think oukitel, fossibot and ulephone. I did not flash it, because usually no such instructions for the cheap chinese brands, but i degoogled it, and except for zillions of warnings, everything seems to work.

(remived the cw on this because a joke) Achtung; ironie!!! maybe the new business model is a schufa for verfassungschutz (*) Pay to get a paper that certifies you are, not free of debt, that is boring and schnee von gestern, but not an object of interest for the verfassungschutz.. For asking for funding, for public employes, for your tinder profile, for your family easter gathering etc..

@edavies@functional.cafe @disorderlyf@todon.eu @quixoticgeek@social.v.st i actually never checked the real insolation in berlin for a fact. Never bothered becausevshort days in the winter and shitty cloudy weather in the summer. Will do now. Edit: leave it here (global) for whoever needs. Edit 2: expected much worse. https://globalsolaratlas.info/map?c=17.308688,-2.109375,2

Global Solar Atlas

The Global Solar Atlas provides a summary of solar power potential and solar resources globally. It is provided by the World Bank Group as a free service to governments, developers and the general public, and allows users to quickly obtain data and carry out a simple electricity output calculation for any location covered by the solar resource database.
