Kirio Fan Club – Episode 1
A fantastic josei premiere about pining, weird girls, and pining for weird girls.
Anime Feminist Recommendations of Winter 2026
Winter gifted us some amazing shojosei, including what’s already one of 2026’s best anime.

Snowball Earth – Episode 1
It’s watchable sci-fi, but the apocalyptic stakes aren’t well balanced against the wacky social anxiety shenanigans.
Go For It, Nakamura-kun!! – Episodes 1-2
A throwback gay rom-com in the vein of Rumiko Takahashi with an awkward, anxious lead and incredible direction by Pop Team Epic’s Aoi Umeki.

Murakami’s The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and Societal Melancholia in the Wake of Imperialism
Wind-Up Bird, like several of Murakami's later works, deals with social issues -- particularly atrocities that have been suppressed in mainstream historical accounts.

Always a Catch! – Episode 1
Get swept up in the start of a hilarious adventure into elite society through the view of a girl they’re definitely not prepared for.
Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring – Episode 1
Compelling female characters with a tight-knit relationship, effective fantasy writing, and lovely visuals—spring is here, and we’re off to a good start!

The Ramparts of Ice – Episode 1
Melt your heart with an excellent premiere that sets the foundation for one girl’s hea ling through the genuine power of friendship.

The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser (Provisional)! – Episode 1
It tears the first female character's shirt open within minutes, so you sure can't say it doesn't know its core audience.
Petals of Reincarnation – Episode 1
Edgy vibes and genuinely interesting animation can’t make up for a story that pits history’s finest and worst against each other in a time where facism is ever present.

An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess – Episode 1
The perspective shift is a fun idea, but it's hard to get invested when the whole thing feels so meanspirited and fatphobic
Haibara’s Teenage New Game+ – Episode 1
Not bad but also no standout, treading the same footsteps of male second-chance series that I’ve seen before—ones that especially revolve around guys getting the girl as a band-aid for solving their personality issues.

The Food Diary of Miss Maid – Episode 1
A simple, joyous food anime about appreciating Japanese snacks.

STEEL BALL RUN JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure – Episode 1
JJBA is always a fun watch, but the 19th century Western setting definitely comes with some replicated racial stereotypes.
