This Week (Or what we're enjoying)? How about *Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!?*. Things began with a happenstance meeting between our boy Takuya, the classic looking gal Kotoko, and the more sporty Kei. Kei turns out to be an otaku as well, though denies it, which creates a bond with Takuya, and then Kotoko just likes both of them. Solid friendships, clear relationship possibilities, largely void of drama so far.

Lightning? Well, Botan mentions the thunder, but that flash in the first frame is lightning. @apc@starside.social #AniMangaFoundIt #BotanKamiina #anime
I'm not sure what to say. *Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk* was one of the more unique spins on girl's love I've seen so far. Botan being incredibly flirty pulled the show along, getting Ibuki's eye, also sparking interesting reactions from everyone else. Each relationship reads different and we experienced quite a few different scenarios. A show with some unresolved issues, and relationships heading in the right direction, but emotional in a good way. #anime #KamiinaBotan
Video Games? It's best not to fully explain what *Coffin* is except to say it's a bit of a mental trip that leave Gojo petrified in *My Dress Up Darling Season 2*. @apc@starside.social #AniMangaFoundIt #anime #MyDressUpDarling
Bookshelves? I think the bedroom of Haruhiko of *Myriad Colors Phantom World* would be a great choice. I can't imagine reading that much but having that for your walls just looks warm. Oh, and these are from episode 11, which is one of my favorite episodes of any anime. @apc@starside.social #AniMangaFoundIt #anime #MyriadColorsPhantomWorld
Remote controls? How about a throw back to *Code Geass* and the Key of Damocles that plays a pivotal role late in the R2 season. @apc@starside.social #AniMangaFoundIt #anime #CodeGeass
To give credit where credit is due, while the actual work element of the show was a little light, *The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife* was a solid show. Lots of characters introduced, enough backstory to give them all purpose and feeling, small and big arcs introduced and tied together, world given some roundness, and the romance arc between the primary pair was given some ebbs and flows as well, plus it looked good. Solid seasonal show. #anime #TheInvisibleManAndHisSoonToBeWife

Rivals? How about the romance type. *In The Clear Moonlit Dusk* featured primary love interest (Kohaku, white hair) who showed his interest early, while the other (Takuto, lighter brown hair) confessed his feelings later. There's moments of tension, misunderstanding, and warmth in this show, as well as a clear choice that Yoi's made by the time the series wraps up.

Cats vs dogs? There's been a few cat-centric shows and one that came to mind was *The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today*. You have this giant, human-sized Yukichi who takes care of his slovenly human owner Saku. It's an entertaining show and the cat does have attitude as much as warmth. It was a fun watch. @apc@starside.social #AniMangaFoundIt #anime #TheMasterfulCatIsDepressedAgainToday

Added a few new stickers to my laptop. Kinda sad Tamaki doesn’t have a mushroom there. ![]()
Forgotten about this, but I guess *Kiddy Grade's* choice of making Eclair's lip stick a sort of lasso weapon is kind of playful in the way Yomiko's ability to use paper in *Read or Die* was. Like it's an everyday thing spun around in an unexpected form.
And alas, a little bit of uncertainty enters the chat to stir things for a moment before the season ends.

SakuraCon is always an experience. Enjoyed another year, hopeful to come in better spirits next year to enjoy it more. #SakuraCon #SakuraCon2026
I’ve had fun so far and feel the need to share this ridiculous thing from SakuraCon. Did not know character face glass holders are a thing. Also points for finding Bochi’s silly glasses. This glasses panel was entertaining. ![]()
It’s odd how much of a mainstay Zapp panels are for Sakuracon but also ridiculous they got the large room for this particular panel with all the screens and video equipment.
And now the fun question, will #sakuracon2026 registration lines be ok or extra long again this year? Still a few hours out myself.
*goes searching for a seasonal anime show*
*discovers it’s seven years old*
*shock at how time passes*
Interestingly, at #SakuraCon2026 they are sort-of bringing back the old anime cinemas by playing series in the AMV Theater at different points during convention. Huh.
As feels like tradition it’s an oddly nice day out.
*Wash It All Away* wrapped up this week as well and it was ... fine? This is one of those shows that feels like it didn't try enough. It occasionally did a dive into a cleaning task, but they felt like blips in time. We get inklings that there's some amnesia element to Wakana's past - which isn't explored. And we even get a slight romance hint, which also goes nowhere. Feels like this could have benefitted from a primary focus. #anime #WashItAllAway
There's some outfits in anime, games, or manga that look awesome on paper but appear difficult to impossible to execute in reality. Like partially it's how human bodies are (pesky things some days), but partially it's this weird thing that getting materials right is an uphill battle since sometimes you see cosplay that's on point, but the material looks out of place. Cheap isn't the right word, but like the finish doesn't fit reality quite right.
I guess there's watches in anime if you go looking, though each of these examples are a few years old.
And the post-con feeling is settling in. I still have another day in the Seattle area but it’s always a bit sad when con is over.
Well, I can say I’ve made it to UW for the cherry blossoms once, though maybe after peak blossom.
Guess I can start favoriting items for Sakuracon. I'm kind of realizing I've line myself up for a couple busy weekends ahead. ![]()
There's a part of me that's pleased when girls love/boys love leans more towards regular relationship stuff rather than falling into some of the uglier tropes. A while ago someone posted a bit straightforwardly about some of the typical issues, such as characters being written in a predatory way, and it's set in note in my mind of things to watch out for. So the times shows keep away from that I kind of get excited to see where they go. And not getting too cutesy, seldom been a fan of that.
*Classroom of the Elite* has become one of the few multi-season shows I'm apparently willing to watch/sit through and I'm not completely sure why. As long as it doesn't take a bad turn like AOT maybe I'll see it through to however it ends (if it does).
