@apc@starside.social I’m definitely a dog person so am picking Enek from Spice & Wolf. He’s the shepherd Norah’s sheepdog and partner…and is a very good dog.

I had a couple of backups this week for #animangafoundit too. First up was Bofuri! Maple is just so adorable as she accidentally sets herself up to become one of the most powerful players in the game.

@apc@starside.social Princess Principal’s early 20th century alternate London had it’s share of dumb phones. Some looked like candlesticks while others look steampunk inspired.

@apc@starside.social In terms of bows and archery, Neko from Akebi’s came to my mind first. The illustrations from the manga capture it perfectly - the getting ready, concentration, the actual shot and following movement. It’s very beautiful!

@apc@starside.social My pick for hidden gems is Granbelm, featuring magical girls, mecha and fighting. It’s an anime original that didn’t get much press when it was released the summer of 2019. What really sets it apart for me is the execution. The first episode draws you in with a no holds barred fight and the second focuses on the characters (primarily our main protagonist Mangetsu) and world building. It’s all done very, very well and it only gets better from there! 😎 (a-p rank 15,462)

@apc@starside.social There are surprisingly a lot of video games in No Freaking Way with Renako playing with Mai and Ajisai and then a three way head-to-head battle royale between Mai, Satsuki and Renako. The in-game animations in the battle royale are game-like, realistic and funny!

@apc@starside.social Wakana doesn’t like lightning or thunder either. However, it’s nice that Kyuushou is able to stay with her in the store during the storm while the power is out.

@apc@starside.social Comiket draws around 300,000 visitors for each of the summer and winter events. However, it is very well organized and run to handle that many visitors. When our protagonists from the manga club decide to do a group cosplay, they run into challenges but strengthen their friendships as well as meeting other cosplayers.

@apc@starside.social The New Year’s shrine visit episode of Hyouka features Oreki and Chitanda as they bow in prayers and then Chitanda bowing with respect to Mayaka and shrine maiden classmate Kaho. A lot of bowing (and teasing) going on. 😎

@apc@starside.social It seems like when one is isekai’d, one tends to end up in a medieval fantasy world that usually has a lot of books and bookshelves. Sei finds herself in that world where she likes to do research at the royal library or finds herself at the magi assembly where of course there are books and bookshelves.

@apc@starside.social So I recently started reading the manga for Akebi’s Sailor Uniform. I’m at the part where Komichi invites Erika to spend time with her and they decide to go fishing. Erika arrives early and is checking of all things, a watch. It’s there in the remaining fishing and playing in the water scenes, but very subtle. So I check out the related anime episode since I don’t remember anything about a watch. Of course it’s there with more detail and continues to be through the remaining scenes. Cloverworks just nails it!

@apc@starside.social Hmm…my biggest disappointment is Reign of the Seven Spellblades. I’m a bit of a sucker for magic high school stories and liked how it started off pretty strong with interesting characters and ideas. But as the episodes progressed, it just wasn’t able to develop it’s large cast of characters and would abandon storylines and ideas. Oof.

Supposedly it’s going to get another season, but I won’t be watching! #animangafoundit #anime #ReignoftheSevenSpellblades

I really was stumped on remote controls, so it's nice to see these reminders and new ones! My original selection was from the first episode of LycoReco -- definitely a blink and you'll miss it.

@apc@starside.social This one really ended up being difficult for me as well. However, I did come up with something that is a little more risqué from “A Yuri Story About a Girl Who Insists It's Impossible for Two Girls to Get Together Completely Falling Within 100 Days”. Aya is getting Marika to watch some *ahem* adult movies together in order to help prove that two girls can, in fact, get together.

@apc@starside.social In addition to most of the shows that have been mentioned, I’m also really enjoying Always A Catch. With an ass-kicking protagonist, fun fight scenes, romance, great characters, humor and positive attitudes, it’s always an enjoyable watch.

@apc@starside.social I had three great choices from one show, but I’m picking Anna’s unrequited love for Sosuke from Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines. In urging Sosuke to go after Karen before she leaves for school in England, Anna realizes the feelings she’s always had for him. They’re childhood friends and she always thought they would end up together. This really hits home as she joins the unwitting observer Kazuhiko (and eats his food) while explaining everything.

@apc@starside.social When I thought of rivals (and friends) Satsuki and Mai from There’s No Freaking Way I’ll be Your Lover! Unless came to my mind first. Mai is a model, an excellent student and is seen to be perfect. Satsuki is an excellent student as well and is also known as the school’s cool beauty. They’re childhood friends, always competing and can be downright mean to each other. However, deep down they also really care about each other.

My other backup for #animangafoundit was Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG is Even Sh*tt*er than Real Life! Our protagonist Hiro gets persuaded (or tricked) to purchase and play Kiwame Quest. It takes reality to the extreme with impressive graphics, NPCs behaving like real people and one can even feel the wind or taste food. Except it’s too realistic - Hiro feels pain when getting a door banged into him or taking a punch from the in-game best friend. However, he decides to try to beat the game anyway.

@apc@starside.social Since I literally just watched this, here’s a backup pick for this week - the Royal Library from The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch. The premise is, shall we say, unconventional to be sure! But I think it has potential, so I’m going to give it a few more episodes.
