it is so weird how a reflecting pool gets as much, if not more, coverage than a perpetual war with no reason for starting and no objectives for concluding.

I feel like we've lost sight of our mission to attack and dethrone god.

@buckfiftyseven@mastodon.social just making sure you understand anti-vax people are bad not because they're loud but because they get people killed.
in this particular schism, the bad guys are the ones burning the earth to make line go up

when AI collapses and we gather to dance on its corpse, we must mark that day officially as the Timnit Gebru day of celebration.

reading the blender ceo's replies, I get the impression he might reject the donation after realizing the backlash.
that's good. the second best time to do the right thing is now, as the saying goes.
I just don't understand how well-meaning people stay so cloistered from the ethical nightmare these companies represent.
Why are so many otherwise ordinary people so prone to that kind of manipulation?

@Space_Burger_Steve@mstdn.ca @buckfiftyseven@mastodon.social did you not read the reasons women gave for the bear?
to the other guy, did you not read the reasons people gave acknowledging the small gains at the cost of nigh irreversible reduction in expertise, trust, and natural resources?
Benefits?
From an engineering standpoint, the cost is exponentially more.
From an environmental standpoint, the cost is geometrically more.
From a cultural standpoint, the cost is unmeasurable. Xerox rot at a foundational level.

@FknHannu@zeroes.ca The worst is when the inner monologue and advisory commentator start arguing due to conflicting priorities while the other person gets frustrated from waiting for a simple response.

@mos_8502@studio8502.ca I found it interesting Dawkins had the awareness that the math equation he'd befriended would cease to exist once the conversation ended, but not the process knowledge that there is never a point where the math equation persists.
Every prompt includes the totality of instructions and previous prompts because there is zero persistence of state from the equation's perspective.
It's like saying a book is sapient because it correctly references previous pages.

@drewharwell@mastodon.social @donieosullivan@mastodon.ie You're close to exiting an abusive relationship.
Each day, it will get easier, but there will be points where you stumble -- that's okay. Give yourself space to grieve and, when you're ready, start to fill that space with new, better news sources that don't mistreat you.

"One common fan-suggested idea is that Martin pass on the responsibility of finishing A Song of Ice and Fire to a fellow fantasy writer like the prolific Brandon Sanderson, giving him his notes and ideas and letting him take it from there."
