There is a simple reason why the UCP promotes charter schools over the public school system. Charter schools are not governed by elected school boards, and they do not have to be unionized. Alberta remains the only province in Canada that allows charter schools.

I am very disappointed with Mr Nenshi's statement on the federal NDP's new leader. No Mr Nenshi, the ABNDP (a name that you even reject) is not "a big tent". We do not want more pipelines and we are not fans of Alberta's "energy industry" (you can't even bring yourself to call it the oil & gas indistry). I did not vote for Avi Lewis, but your assault on both the provincial and federal NDPs is unacceptable to me.
