This needs more attention. This is straight out of the Trump playbook: concerned you might not get the result you want? Easy, change the rules! #ABPoli #MapleMAGA #ElectionInterference #ABReferendum https://albertapolitics.ca/2026/09/as-divisive-separation-vote-nears-ucp-suddenly-changes-voter-list-rules-hampering-scrutineers/

As divisive separation vote nears, UCP suddenly changes voter list rules, hampering scrutineers - Alberta Politics

As Alberta careens toward a chaotic and divisive vote on separation seemingly drafted to discourage the United Conservative Party’s dominant separatist faction from trying to force Premier Danielle Smith out as party leader, her cabinet on Thursday approved a temporary policy the Opposition NDP says is intended to help separatists. Introducing the 2026 Alberta referendum special ballot book. Just got this in the post and wanted you to see why I think the queues on voting day are going to be monstrous. These are books. And the questions are wordy. It's gonna take more than the usual 1 min to vote. Word of caution: voting with a special ballot will take some extra steps beyond just filling in your answers. You'll have to photocopy your photo ID and include that in there so be prepared to spend a bit of time. Still. I predict it'll be less time and less annoying than waiting in a queue, hoping your boss doesn't fire you for taking a three hour long lunch break. 🙃 #ABReferendum #AlbertaReferendum #Alberta #ABPoli
