Zeke Hausfather is one of the most prominent El Niño experts out there.

He mentions the Canadian models today. The old record of 2.8°C above average in the oceanic region could be as high as 3.6°C and 4.2°C by November.

Record shattering.

Given that this peak is occurring in November this, including the ongoing buildup happening right now (it is already at or near the 2.8°C record) could have large impacts on fall and winter 2026, as well as into Spring and Summer 2027.

my station is currently mostly in the shade due to changes in the backyard. So this is definitely an under-count on the temperature from Alberniweather.

Looks like Port Alberni is *just* south of the partial eclipse. The north of Vancouver Island will see a sliver. The total eclipse is through Spain.

Mark Ingalls has an important and informative commentary on the utility of WeatherRadio in Canada and the USA and why it should not only be kept, but promoted and be part of every Canadian's emergency kit!
