Experimenting with drop caps on my blog, straddling the line between text-focused minimalism and whimsy!

The drop cap font I'm using on the desktop version is called Medieval Alphabet Font. I was originally using Nouveau Drop Caps, which is a little more readable, but not as stereotypically "medieval." I decided to use Nouveau Drop Caps for the mobile version of my site, as the more ornate styling of Medieval Alphabet Font doesn't really work on smaller screens.

Happy National Nurses week to all you nurses out there. I wish you all fully-staffed shifts, safe patient ratios, reasonable family members, and good treats. Thank you for everything you do!

Well, I ended up bypassing Etsy completely and taking this as an opportunity to get creative! My artistic skills are minimal at best, but I'm decent at writing runes with my drawing tablet, so ... I designed a pair of matching 24" x 36" prints in bold complimentary colours, one featuring my husband's first initial and the other featuring my first initial, written in Tolkien's Angerthas script. The prints capture our nerdy personalities, they'll be a great conversation starter, and (best of all) I know they're 100% slop-free!

I should be able to pick them up and get them framed in a few days. Fingers crossed they turn out OK.

We're redecorating our living room and trying to find some nice digital prints to purchase for the wall over our couch... Etsy has been my go-to in the past for similar purchases, but holy shit, it is just an endless, depressing sea of slop now. 😞 What's worse: a few even came close to tricking me. Saw this cute guinea fowl artwork I really liked in colours that work really well for our space. Almost bought it, but thankfully saw the AI disclosure in the fine print before adding it to my cart...

I'm so tired of having to constantly be on high alert like this. I know plenty of 100% human artists still have shops on Etsy, but finding them is so much harder now.
