I vibecoded my first app: a medication/symptom tracking app for my very rare chronic illness. It’s already improved my life. I love vibe coding for this. The number of people who have lived experience of this disease and have the motivation, resources, and coding knowledge to make this app was basically zero. Plus, unlike AI slop, all the functionality and design decisions were made by me.
I’m a critic of AI when it sucks, but I’m now a big believer in vibe coding.

A Canadian gold in hockey would have boosted the moods, productivity, and sex lives of millions of Canadians!
It’s not easy to feel second hand glory from curling, already a slightly silly sport, but to win while violating a rule with a funny finger poke is even more undignified.
That said, irrational national pride removes a GTA wanted star, so whereas it’s objectively a one star crime, a Canadian will see it as zero stars.

When the centre-left controlled social media, people used to say, “Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences”, meaning private speech could be suppressed. All well and good when corporations were banning fascists, but now they’re on the side of fascists.
What we should have said was, “Yes, FoS should exist, at least in spirit, even online, even in privately owned spaces, but threats and hate still don’t count”.
This is one of those dystopian things that feel extra scary because it’s so mundane and achievable.
They start by pushing the limits of what they can get away with on blue collar workers. But this will come for the fancy white collar jobs too.

I just got my kid his first device, an Apple Watch with a standalone cell plan because it’s annoying to use, doesn’t have any social media apps, has no camera, but still has the location tracking feature. Purely for communication. Perfect.
But the battery life! Do Apple Watch users really recharge multiple times a day? I had no idea. It’s like a shitty pet.
