#FediCoven Q10 Do no harm, but take no sh*t! How pacifistic is your magic?
Some people believe in Karma, some people believe in 'the law of three fold'
Bad things don't happen to bad people by being a spectator sitting in the nosebleed section.

Then you can fuck off too.

#FediCoven 2026 Q4: How do you identify? (Witch, druid, pagan, shaman, medium, 'all of the above'?)
I am a Witabr Witch. Though i short hand that as "a pagan with a small /p/." Mostly as I've had to grow selective with when/where I can dump energy into elaboration and discussion.
¿Are we anthropomorphizing?
Whales have languages, Birds have languages, TREES AND PLANTS have languages/inter communicate. We have observed cross species communication & cooperation. Spiders have been found to have object permanence and spacial cognition...
Are we anthropomorphizing?
OR
Is it more likely a large chunk of humans think we're not animals, simply because we 'created digital watches'?
Humans have removed their minds from nature by several magnitudes more than they physically removed their bodies
#WritersCoffeeClub Sep 22: What have you discovered about yourself through your writing?
That there's a couple of blocked out /repressed memories stacked in the corner of my mind, hints of which creep into my writing's themes from time to time.
I'm self aware enough to know I need to leave them be, as vague shapes at the edges of my peripheral vision until I can afford a therapist to help me drag them into the light and deal with the trauma they hold.
#WritersCoffeeClub - 25-09-28 Have you ever added to a work after it was ‘finished’?
A few works.
I went back and tweaked the character descriptions, as well as added hard line descriptions in the index with info such as hair type, including ref to actresses and actors who look close to how I pictured the characters. In case I ever get optioned for movies.
I read the book after seeing the movie. And was mildly confused. No slight to the Hunger Games movie, but Katniss wasn't white in the book. A missed opportunity for the movie.
#WritersCoffeeClub 25-10-02 Do you tend to include prologues? Why?
Epilogues occasionally, prologues not yet. Though I have thought about writing out the fight between Medb and Martin of Maledictions in his mage tower as a prologue, so the reader knows what lead to
"Per an eyewitness, a portal opened 3m off the ground with a belch of fire, spilling a human woman and a robed human male onto the street. “
But, the other thought I have is to incorporate a scene where Medb recounts the assault on Martin's tower, the guilt of being mere minutes too late to stop Martin's ritual, and the final fight that spilled into the Dream.
#WritersCoffeeClub 25-10-01 Have you written in an epistolary format?
Is that the one that's Catholic light, with half the guilt all the holidays?
Or the people who are fine eating fish but no other animals?
#WordWeavers 25-09-20: How does society think about nature and its protection?
Medb's people were wardens of the land. Their name for themselves translates to "people of the land/those of open country", by their origin story protecting the land was part of the sacred charge given with the ability to take the form of a human. Medb's people rise to the call anytime the balance of nature is threatened
What that looks like now that she's in a completely different universe following Martin of Maledictions destrying their universe, who knows? The Dream is a wildly different place than where she came from
#PennedPossibilities 796 — Have you had to cut anything significant from your WIP? (Either for plot, cleanliness, redundancy, over explanation, or pace and literary effect.)
Oh yeah. This is the first WIP where I've straight cut things rather than get out the planishing hammer and smooth it into shape.
The first run of the interrogation chapter ("Auribus teneo lupum") was more lively with barbs traded freely back and forth. I cut 90% of what I had written and started over. I had the personality of a character off the mark. They're more "High Society Snarker" /"Stone Cold Snarker" rather than an "Insult Fencer", and the only way to get my head to sync up was to take a torch to it and restart.
And honestly my MC was off mark as well since I was overly giddy tossing diametrically opposed personalities in a confined room and let the irritate each other.
I may even end up tweaking the chapter when done with the wip, to better reflect the dynamic and type of power each has. In a later chapter I compare them as a Sword & Gordian Knot. One has layer upon layer of entwined power that can't be readily undone by tugging threads and loops, while the other can hack right through but isn't able to preserve what might need to be kept in place.
#WritersCoffeeClub 25-09-20: How might your work be seen as a criticism of the present moment?
There's a flash back chunk talking about the first Humans vs Fae war, and how it was started by the humans greedy for more resources rather maintaining a stable usage.
—edit—
An other thing bubbled to mind that would be considered criticism, would be that Medb's universe was destroyed by a arrogant asshole trying to make himself into a god
Knot falling for it
#WordWeavers 25-10-01. Tell us what you’re working on now. What’s special about the project?
Sanguine Dreams:A Riders of the Dream Tale
What's special? Well, it's a work inspired from a beta read of another story in the Rides of the Dream series. "But Mae', what's special about that?" I hear you say. Well 1, I joined the writing collective & made new friends. 2, The nature of the inspiration. I didn't start with a concrete character as I typically do. I had a nebulous idea, a notion that there's two specific existing characters in the series that I knew whatever I wrote would slingshot around them like a Klingon bird of prey loaded with
whales whipping around the sun. There were a few false starts, including one character that leaned heavy SciFi and would have been an interesting chess piece for @GrayWolf57@meow.social to use in the stories involving the war with the Tresh. But then I got my footing, and found Medb, who's story I needed to tell. Who dances more on the elements of fantasy woven in amongst the #SciFi & #SteamPunk , and adds someone to the cast that functions a bit different from the others narratively & skill set wise.
So here I am, 11k into writing Sanguine Dreams , trekking toward 40k+

What species/race is your MC?
Rhai'r tir.
Medb's people are a species of shape-shifters we'd call a werewolf. But a word of caution with calling her a werewolf to her face, as that's a human term for her people, and she has a rather prickly and mixed relationship with humans. Yes they can interbreed with humans, and even elves, but the offspring will always result in a Rhai'r tir, even if the child picks up physical characteristics from the non Rhai'r tir parent. The father of Medb's daughters was a human spirit-walker shaman named Líth. The daughters are taller like Líth & have his stark blue eyes, but elsewise look like Medb while in human form.
Wolf form though, being identical 'mirror' twins look the same as each other in wolf form but with their brown, black, & grey colouration flipped, and don't look anything like Medb who is jet black save for a bit of grey on her chest. Which makes sense when you look at their origin story where the first Rhai'r tir, Eria, was a wolf that was given the ability to shape shift. The wolf is the true-self for lack of a better term. (This is also partly why the first change into a wolf is a bit traumatic)
#WordWeavers 25-09-28: Is your MC more likely to fight, flee, or talk their way out of trouble?
15 : 15 : 70
Talk : Flee : Fight
And it depends on the situation.
Medb isn't above discussion, but threatening her is as productive as squeezing blood from stone, and likely leads to bloodshed.
#Wordweavers 25-10-02 - What do your characters argue about?
Ehhh, technically not my characters though I am using them in the story. The chunk I'm working on atm is Trinity and Giftzahn going back and forth, as Medb turned back up and she is not just pissed off but looking for two specific people from the clan, and if T+G don't turn them over to Medb, she will take the blood owed from them.
The scene is on pause while I catch up on some reading of material that was finished after I started my wip, and contains info that 'll alter how the dialogue looks and feels.
#PennedPossibilities 789 — Is there a food that reminds your MC of home?
Rabbit stew and spit-cooked rabbit.
The geographic region Medb lived in had a swath through the middle of it that was well suited to supporting high populations of rabbits and pheasants. The rabbits were the easier ones to catch
#PennedPossibilities 788 — Out of all of your characters, who would make a “plan,” who follows along, and who knows if the plan is going to fail?
Out of all?
Nymeria, guerrilla fighter, makes tight plans with contingencies upon contingencies. Her plans fail when something happens she couldn't pre-plan for or adapt to on the fly, or when enemies have sufficient numbers to mitigate manipulation tactics.
Medb, tactical, her people are absolute juggernauts in a battle, Medb's plans start as 2-3 layers and constantly evolve to a win scenario. Enemies don't win against her, they cut losses and retreat fast & far enough she doesn't pursue. Unless they are unlucky enough to have her undivided attention.
Parthia, hunter, patiently waits for an optimal time to strike, goes for kill on first contact. Rapidly changes plans as situation change. Doesn't hesitate to retreat if she knows she can't get a kill in short order. If they don't kill her, enemies can only temporarily win by drawing out a fight long enough she retreats in favour of trying again later. Each time she comes back, she's more dangerous that the last. She learns, she adapts, she never over extends herself.
#PennedPossibilities 800 What are your favorite genres to read?
Fantasy, SciFi, Sci-Fantast, Technical/Instructional books such as Gear Design Simplified & The Art of Blacksmithing
I know people like to spin a positive view,
But I am not a vase that can be kintsgui-ed back to functional. The older I get, the lower down the breaks happen, and the less I can functionally carry.
I want people to stop "believing **in** me" and start believing me 😔
#positive #positivity #disability #disabled #MentalHealth #PhysicalHealth
I have that feeling.
You know the one...
You're alone somewhere alone,
Alone—alone. Maybe some minor animals around,
A squirrel or a bird,
It's bright out, maybe it's the middle of the day,
It's dark out, maybe it's the middle of the night,
Then something intentionally moves into your perception.
It feels like this one is carrying portents...
When will it speak? 👁
