@dalias@hachyderm.io @Gigawatt121@mastodon.art Hi, you've been commenting on a picture of Bill and Ted fan art, which is the movie the phrase came from. The context of how it has been used in computer community CoCs is not relevant and bringing it up in the manner that you did was unnecessary and rude.
10 years ago I wouldn't have believed that Persona games with Yu Narukami as the protagonist would still be releasing in 2027.

"What do you intend to do with this technology?"
"Well, we would like to create a machine that can draw like humans do."
"I feel that we are nearing the end of times. Humanity is losing faith in itself."

@Maverynthia@dragon.style @TheOneSwit@det.social @brianmerchant@mastodon.social I've seen the video a number of times since it was released many years ago. That quote about it being an insult indeed takes place before the section I quoted. But why does he react the way he does? Because he saw the technology used in a way that betrays human intentionality, and compassion in creativity, informed by our experiences and understanding, in this case of things like pain. Context matters, but his reaction was hardly to the specific use.
