I have long known that OnStar has the power of being very evil and invasive, but the coming reality of it is so much worse.
Private conversations in your car can now be spread across the world wide web, without your consent because Gemini is a gossip.
We have understood all along what we need to do, but we have refused to do it because...?

We were warned
"The practice in adopting a zoning code is to assign very generous areas to commerce so that there may be no hindrance to legitimate expansion. In hundreds of instances there has been rezoning but in spite of such rezoning experience is showing that many, of our commercial districts are too large.
There is not enough legitimate business demand for more than a fraction of the frontage."
From the Lexington Herald Aug.1, 1926 via a wire service.
Its called algorithmic personalized pricing, the practice uses personal data to estimate how much consumers are willing to pay, then adjusts the price accordingly. Two shoppers, same store, same item: two different prices, generated by data neither of them can see.

The practice is called ‘surveillance pricing,’ and the Canadian Parliament recently voted down a motion to ban it.

Saw this the other day as we were rolling through downtown Lexington. Wife said that Ice Cream Vinagrette just does not sound very good to her.
The former restaurant sign is still on the window.
Sign placement could have been better, I suppose.
We were talking just the other day that I cannot recall weather reports from my youth which contained comments of various hail dimensions. It was either going to hail or it was not.
Now we have anything from dime size to softball size predictions

Politics is holding us back, right?
Solar and wind with battery storage now match coal costs and beat gas prices globally, according to IRENA. Clean energy is finally achieving cost parity with fossil fuels.
Only 5-7% of US households have rooftop solar. Balcony solar offers an accessible alternative for renters and homeowners facing installation barriers
Rail travel, as it should be.
Not only can you not cheaply fuel your car, you may not be able to change the oil.
The Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association says refinery outages and shipping disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz are tightening supplies of Group III base oils, a key ingredient in many modern synthetic oils.

This comic strip has to be one of the most honest in decades. The small signs are the best.
Every city had one. The street that worked for all the residents of the street. You go for errands and get home in 40 minutes with everything you need for the week and you never once got in a car.
Then something changed. Not all at once but over decades, and mostly without anyone asking the people who lived here what they thought about it.
What happened to Las Tunas Drive in this story has a name: post-war exclusionary zoning. What street do you know of like this?
