Job Search Complaining
I like the card scanning apps and they're very nice but it makes people think computer vision is more solved than it actually is and so people will ask for insane features as if correctly identifying one (1) playing card accurately against a broken background isn't already a miracle of modern science.
Trello is turning AI data training into an anti feature where the only way to opt out is have an enterprise account and fuck that time to migrate I guess.
I think a lot of political problems stem from people thinking they can comprehend numbers bigger than 12.
We're trying to buy a new car this weekend (responsibly because the stress of having to drive wife back and forth from work while also doing her mom's appointments and aaaaaaahhhhhhhh) and I had forgotten just how insane people selling their cars are. "Priced to sell" my brother in Christ you are priced at like new condition.
Saw someone say Idaho was better governed than Oregon and excuse me what the fuuuuuuuck.

On top of everything else that's shitty about Generative AI, I'm realizing there are specific kinds of questions that have only been answered by two teenagers in a weird subforum, and so there's all these people making decisions based on bad advice and literary meanings derived by teenagers.

I really like Kinds affecting stats, but it does mean you have to do the work to make those stats meaningful for everyone, see Pillars of Eternity. The discourse really wants you to have effectively flat stats though, so it's something to consider.

I think outside of building a culture where people don't do this, it's really hard to moderate. Relies strongly in reports, and requires investigation; is this person being creepy or autistic? kind of deal, and requires a pattern of behavior that's difficult to establish if you're moderating more than even 20 people.
This is also a stats problem, because even 5% of people being bad actors pollutes your sample, so this is basically a complaint that too many people can see posts.

I tried to sneak it all into one, and it didn't quite fit.
And I think it's valid to not want reply guys being shitty, and to not necessarily want to be discovered, but you can turn off being public, for the most part.
Not trying to diminish the harm that is happening, just talking about the nightmare of moderation this problem is lol.

People were throwing out their garbage on my porch because we wear masks! People try and run me off the road because I drive a Prius! The shit can get absolutely insane, but they're so fucking sheltered they have no idea.

@octothorpe@mastodon.online Yeah, this is definitely a case of overloaded english, because I'm mostly talking about access; I want people to be able to engage with whatever they want! But when they do things like interact with 30 year old ideas/services like they're new it's weird!
Generically I even think a certain amount of gatekeeping is good, but think that it should be limited to things like doing the reading, for example :3

It's been the case for a while now, but if you're not writing CUDA you probably shouldn't be buying nVidia silicon.
