I enjoy walking (including football!), cycling and scuba diving.
Now retired from a career in I.T. that included punched cards in its early days.
Wish we were still in the EU and that I had a bit more confidence in our recently elected government, although it is good to feel the country is at least being run by adults again.
Still watching Liverpool from the Kop, an experience that has now comfortably exceeded 40 years.

@stefano We have a wireless alarm system that just makes a noise, I rejected the SIM option as I wondered what I was going to do if it alerted me when I was hundreds of miles away. The company don't offer this any more, a SIM system is mandatory, and you have to pay extra annually to cover the SIM costs.

@inthehands@hachyderm.io @drahardja@sfba.social Senior management have been trying to do this for years and now they would seem to have the tools to "succeed". Any attempt to explain the risks they are taking are just seen as self-serving, "engineers always say what they do is hard". I'm very happy to be retired.

@davep@infosec.exchange It's one of the (several) things I really dislike about VAR. Referee lets lots of things go throughout the game on the basis of "keeping the game flowing". Then a goal is scored and VAR re-referees the previous two minutes using totally different standards from that which has been previously applied.

@tmcfarlane@toot.community A bigger embarrassment for the #bbc who switched people to iPlayer only for their feed to not actually show the snooker. Never been so glad I had TNT. #snooker

@LonM@social.vivaldi.net Let me guess, they outsourced the new app to a third party, then pressed them to reduce the price, so they saved the money back by reducing testing. #ITProcurement

@tmcfarlane@toot.community @clare_hooley@mastodon.me.uk We switched straight to the iPlayer feed showing on the home page, which promptly followed BBC2 to Richard Osman. Followed on from earlier in the week when two matches on home page were both giving the same feed, for one of them.
