Back in January, E-Seniors had the pleasure of presenting the NGI TALER project to a group of 61 participants during a dedicated event.

Together, they explored how GNU TALER works, shared its key outcomes, and discussed the benefits of the instant payment revolution.

It was a great opportunity to exchange with participants and raise awareness about innovative digital payment solutions.

Thank you to everyone who attended!

🔍 How dependent is Europe on US tech giants when it comes to digital infrastructure like the digital euro?

📌 In a new interview with Das Parlament, Prof. Christian Grothoff warns that Europe’s digital sovereignty will remain limited as long as key digital infrastructures are controlled by proprietary technologies, stressing that true digital autonomy requires building technologies as free software and open-source solutions!

📢 As discussions about the digital euro intensify, we need to ensure that policy debates are grounded in rigorous quantitative and qualitative research.

📌 A significant new contribution in this context is the Open Access article by Mikolai Gütschow and Bernd Lucke, published by Springer International. It offers a critical assessment of the European Commission’s draft regulation on the digital euro, including references to GNU Taler and its key design characteristics.
