I like to tell people just entering photography that you can do almost everything I do with your phone and a small tripod mount. Most new phones allow you to shoot in pro mode and capture raw image files. Then you can either buy a raw editing program or use one of the free options like gimp or darktable. Most of photography is composition, so if you have an eye for what makes a great photo you really don't need to start out with expensive gear.

Wait, so if media collapses the people die by crushing or drowning under the massive weight of the truth?
Alrighty then...
But also, here's your friendly reminder to support your local independent or nonprofit media!

Assaulting FBI agents seems like a pretty slam dunk case with a loooong sentence. Probably makes him an easy flip if he's got something to trade.

It's plausible, but highly improbable with normal air and sea surface temperatures. But we're not normal anymore, and will only get less normal with current trends. As SSTs continue to rise, there is enough potential energy in places where there wasn't enough before. People will have to adapt (either individually or collectively) or be swept away.

Yeah, he was a Bernie supporter and remained one through election day. I do have thoughts on people who refused to coalesce behind Clinton, but mostly because I was one of them. I think a lot of us learned that lesson, and I still feel guilt over it. But to say KM has ever been a Trump supporter is silly.

@jmsdnns@mastodon.social this is especially concerning when you consider that the military relies heavily on zoom, both formally and informally. It should worry everyone that, even if nothing classified is discussed, that likenesses of our military members could be used in generative AI models.

I saw the story on NBC last night, framed around how ebikes are dangerous. The biggest example they gave was of a child who was STRUCK BY A VEHICLE while riding. Streets need to be made safe for pedestrians and cyclists. I still see new roads being constructed with no thought to people who aren't driving.

“Are you asking this court to find that the Florida Supreme Court violated the federal constitution when they put this in place? At the end of the day, is that what you’re asking?” Marsh asked Bardos.
Brilliant line of questioning by the judge.

This Supreme Court is not afraid to show who their masters are. This ruling was an obvious gift to corporate developers. So much damage has already been done, and it seems our only hope is to retain the presidency in perpetuity to replace the cons as they die. I've given up hope on Court expansion or reform, that's a pipe dream without 60 votes in the senate or a strong enough majority to get rid of the filibuster.
Spotted this virgin tiger moth hanging out. Their caterpillars are adorable fuzzy guys and the hind wings on the adults are often a beautiful rose or orange color.

Killer Mike is a gem from Atlanta. There are so many good things about Georgia, and it will only get better.

What color is math when asked to solve for the position function of a body orbiting two other bodies simultaneously?
Can't wait to see the cascade of #Trump #mugshot #NFT that come out soon. All his supporters who know nothing will buy them up thinking they scored something.
Then at some point they'll realize that their prized possession is worthless. They'll be angry, and looking for someone to blame. But it won't be the one who sold them the lemon, or Trump, or the #GOP, or the right-wing media.
As always, they'll blame "the librulz" and not take a second to critically examine their trainwreck of a life.
@axios@mastodon.social Seems like the billionaire class is getting increasingly concerned about the lower class taking action. 🤔
