The NixPKGs contracts implementation has another PR at https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/506343. If this gets merged, it'd be another big (though completely optional) addition to how services can be defined (not only) in #NixOS, after the introduction of modular services in 25.11. No clue if this is the final PR or when it'll be merged, but it's a good step towards standardizing services #nix

@ErikUden while pointing out hypocrisy among the alt-right is a fun pastime, it's ultimately fruitless, the whole idea is based on hypocrisy.
Sartre summed it up pretty well: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7870768-never-believe-that-anti-semites-are-completely-unaware-of-the-absurdity unfortunately too long to quote on my instance as this medium is the for hot takes, not serious discussions

@nixCraft@mastodon.social oh, no worries, 2026 also has its own version of subprime loans, they're just called private credit now, but it's the same thing.

@realestninja@social.linux.pizza yeah the whole thing comes with a price, and installation times usually aren't the biggest issue on upgrades even, but rather evaluation.
On the other hand, there is a lot of immeasurable time save regarding the reproducibility, so there's that.
I don't know where I wrote this, but I do sometimes miss pacman's simplicity and speed (used Arch for 15 years until switching to NixOS in 2023), wouldn't go back but pacman is still nice

@starlabssystems while I highly appreciate these kind of offers (secure devices), I nowadays only buy refurbished business devices for my portable needs, my last new portable devices was 2014 (ignoring the steam deck...) but if I needed something new, this would be a hot contender. I was just interested in the price point

@me_and@tech.lgbt Isn't this exactly what mkRemovedOptionModule and mkAliasOptionModule are for?
There's nothing really for new stuff except monitoring nixpkgs pull requests and filter by the has: module tag
