Temple of The Golden Grognard

Fun Fact: In the 1970s and 80s, TSR published the maps for their D&D adventures in blue to prevent piracy. This specific color of blue wouldn’t copy on analog optical photocopy machines. Today, D&D maps in “non-photo blue” are easily reproduced with scanners or digital copiers. New adventure maps in this blue are now only done for aesthetic purposes and nostalgia’s sake. #ttrpg #ttrpgs #dnd #adnd #bxdnd #tsr #tsrhobbies #tsrinc #1980s

RE: @randomwizard@social.vivaldi.net

I detest the concept of “magic shops” in D&D. It turns the wonderous mundane in short order and throws power balance out of whack too. And, apparently, Gary Gygax also thought so many moons ago. #dnd #ttrpg #ttrpgs #garygygax

RE: @Ashigaru@dice.camp

This is because WOTC is letting their corporate marketing framework (IP integration, licensing for toys, software, etc) dictate creative decisions rather than letting the creative decisions dictate the marketing. It’s the same reason that a lot of #Marvel and #DCComics projects are terrible. #ttrpg #wotc #dnd

To the people watching #SpiderNoir in color: You guys are really missing the point. And, strictly speaking, there’s no such thing as “Film Noir” in color anyway. (Before you say anything: “Blade Runner,” “LA Confidential,” etc are Neo-Noir.)

The best dice with which to play #TrailOfCthulhu — dice with the real Elder Sign on them.

RE: @DnDFanatics@dice.camp

Again, corporate marketing dictating creative decisions rather than the other way around. Is D&D so weak on its own that it needs to be propped up by other IP? #ttrpg #ttrpgs #wotc #dnd

Random Thought: I find it very weird that the first manned space flight — one of the greatest achievements of mankind — was accomplished by a country that hasn’t existed on earth for nearly 35 years.

This blog post starts with the sentence: “Sex with a succubus is much like sex with anyone, which is to say it's absolutely horrifying.”

…Um…No?!

I’m having an absolute blast with #SpiderNoir . I’d totally buy a soundtrack with all the vintage songs on it. And Li Jun Li is absolutely riveting as an actor, singer, and eye candy! #marvel #tvseries #MarvelTV #NicholasCage #lijunli #noir #spiderman #spidermannoir

This random piece of art came up in my feed and gave me an idea for #Ravenloft : What if Ireena Kolyana were the vampiric darklord of #Barovia instead of #Strahd ? #dnd #ttrpg #ttrpgs
