I find it extraordinary that the Labour Party is discussing reducing the money the pensioners should rightly have after working hard all their lives when the top 5% of the country own 65% of our nation's wealth. As best as I understood, the Labour Party was set up to look after the workers not protect the privileged few.

Two Not Guilty verdicts in two significant trials!
Two separate trials in one week have resulted in unanimous not-guilty jury verdicts. The trial of Olax Outis, a Dutch activist who spray painted Parliament Square’s Winston Churchill statue, concluded last week with every member of the jury determining that he had committed no crime, despite the claims of a cleanup operation costing “£7,000” (that’s an expensive jet wash!). Olax had been held on remand for nearly two months and was blocked from returning home in yet another ridiculous set of oppressive bail conditions against a pro-Palestine activist.
Sarah Cotte was arrested in a violent dawn raid by counter-terror police months after she had made a speech about the rights of Palestinians outside her university, SOAS of London. A legal complaint had been made against Sarah by pro-genocide groups, UK Lawyers for Israel, and pro-Israel campaigners. She had already faced a trial in which jurors chose not to convict her, but prosecutors decided to waste yet more taxpayer money on a retrial which led to a unanimous not-guilty verdict.
Both of these cases show the importance of jury trials, and highlight both the need to Defend Our Juries and the reason our corrupted corporate state is keen to remove jury trials altogether.

#BoyGeorge is to perform in Tel Aviv next year
The star has performed in Israel before, and last July he released "We Will Dance Again," a song inspired by the October 7 massacre and the Nova music festival.
He has been spotted numerous times at #Reform conferences, and it is sad to see a singer who once wrote about love and equality become a champion of division and hate.

A group of pro-Israel lawyers is urging the UK government to label Doctors Without Borders a terrorist organisation over its work in #Gaza.
UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) allege that the charity – which provides life-saving medical aid to people in warzones – has links to militant groups, and have called on home secretary Shabana Mahmood to proscribe the charity.
DWB are also one of the organisations fighting #Ebola in the DRC

Jonathan Reynolds says to #HelenWhately on #BbcQuestionTime "You can tell how old you are by the number of times the Conservative Party has announced this policy (of benefits cards) The reason it isn't applied is because there is simply no evidence that the unemployed spend their money on fags and booze. It will never happen, and frankly, it is just a way of you saying you don't like poor people."
He is applauded.

Chris Philp says on #Bbclaurak his party can save £5 billion by cutting the size of the civil service
The UK currently spends £17 billion on salary
So he is talking about getting rid of every one in three members of the civil service
Is this feasible?

CNN, Politico and MS NOW have said they will sue the Trump administration after the three US media outlets were barred from the White House.
#Trump announced the ban on Friday, accusing the organisations of writing "fiction or lies" about his team. The companies said their reporters were denied access to the building on Saturday.
In a joint statement on Monday, they said they were pursuing legal action to "defend the principle that the government does not decide what the press reports"

A good thing: the then justice secretary, #Lamny, sought to deprive Britons of an ancient right that had its roots in the Magna Carta. People would no longer be entitled to a trial by their peers in cases involving a likely sentence of less than three years. Instead, a lone judge would suffice. The collective wisdom of 12 independent minds is likely to be superior to that of a single individual. But this seemed to count for little. Nor did more than 800 years of precedent.
That egregious idea has now been removed as a motion in Parliament.

Andrew Neil on #bbcquestiontime says, "I would ban uniforms on demonstrations."
It has actually been illegal since 1936 to do this.
He goes on to say he hated it when Black Lives Matter wore balaclavas
Some BLM protesters choose to wear balaclavas or face coverings for practical reasons. These include protecting their anonymity from digital surveillance, guarding against tear gas, and maintaining personal privacy during public demonstrations.
Every second week, there were protests in central London. If you want to protest, I want to see your face as well. Bit of a non seq in his argument there.
He then goes on to say. "The last people you should be listening to is the Tories. They had an immigration pattern named after them: The Boris Wave. The fact of the matter is that by-election the end of the year, net migration will be 170,000, not a million."

Caroline Lucas says on #BbcQuestionTime says, "Yes, the £72 million pound donation to #Reform is a threat to British democracy. Up for sale to the highest bidder. Reform wants us to believe these donations are made out of patriotism, but it is really quite an odd patriotism when one is a tax exile in Thailand and the other in Hong Kong. We need to have a cap on donations.

Here is the Hansard record of the debate about bringing the water industry back into public ownership
"Private companies have paid out, in 2024 prices, around £83 billion—an average of £2.4 billion a year—as dividends, while loading the companies in debt. Often, those loans were taken out simply to increase the amount of cash extracted as dividends when profits alone were not enough. As we know, crucial infrastructure has been left to fail. Not a single new reservoir has been built since 1992, and water companies have overseen the waste of around 3 billion litres of water a day through leaky pipes"
The government response !!
"I will not pretend that there is one simple answer to the problems facing the sector, but what is not in question is the need for significant reform. That means tougher regulation, which we have started to see through the increased inspections by the Environment Agency"
