"Men Aren't Better Than Women: Both Genders Are Inferior To Me" is a 1991 book by Dr. Ivo Robotnik (better known for other work). Though its primary purpose is clearly to stroke the author's own ego, it is generally regarded as a comprehensive, well-constructed, and accessible work of contemporary feminist theory, and is still commonly-cited to this day.
Most of the critical complaints have been about the tone; in a review from 2005, Professor Victoria of Spagonia University said, "The constant self-aggrandizement undercuts the idea that its subject ought to be taken seriously. Also, wasn't the 'feminist' line from the Sonic Heroes manual a mistranslation of 'womanizer'?"
In 2026, Dr. Robotnik released a new edition updated for the preceding 35 years of developments in feminism, with the subtitle changed from "Both Genders" to "All Genders."
Dizzy the Void
sharkey 2025.4.7I am slightly a void in reality. Pen name: "Delila H. Smith." (The "H" is silent.) Thirtysomething devil but in a catgirl sort of way, snugglemuffin, too gay for this.
she/it
TV series or other serial media with a title which seems to be the full name of a female protagonist. She appears in the opening credits and on posters and things, looking more and more happy. However, at the beginning of the series, there's no sign of her. Instead, the ostensible protagonist is a man with the same last name and exactly the same hair color and height, with negative fashion sense, slightly gaunt, and he's just the most completely lifeless and depressed person you've ever seen,
Half-Life 1 G-Man dressed like Professor Oak, gesturing to three pokeballs: "Time to choose."
Concept: a Star Trek Lower Decks-style sitcom set on a Borg Cube, with varyingly-silly depictions of Borg doing Borg thigs. One of the recurring characters is a human named Gary, who just sort of hangs around the Borg Cube being snarky; the reason he's never assimilated is because 1. he's not making himself a threat (an actual plot point in the shows), and 2. he has no useful skills or knowledge they'd want to assimilate. (It's implied that it's also because he's annoying.) No explanation is given for what he eats etc, or why he's even here in the first place, it's just a sitcom gag sort of thing.
He has a sitcom-arch-nemesis thing with a drone designated Six of Nine; it's ambiguous what Six of Nine thinks about it, if anything, or indeed whether Gary's actually serious about it or if it's just because of the designation. The few times the Borg Queen shows up when Gary's around, he transfers the sitcom-enmity to her instead; she's a mixture of amused, annoyed, and confused about him.
Train of thought:
- Hm, how can I take my goofy "Solaris the Hedgehog" idea, where the Sonic 2006 final boss reincarnates as a mischievous hedgehog cryptid-lesbian and also a goofy dipshit, and combine it with my interest in robot-girls?
- Ah, of course! She's an android created by Doctor Eggman, who wanted to channel or contain the Flames of Disaster and/or Solaris! This limits her ability to use that power, thus explaining why she doesn't have plot-breaking levels of power and is merely on the level of other Sonic the Hedgehog player characters! Ooh, maybe it could be ambiguous whether she's actually Solaris/a robot who's channeling Solaris, or if she's just a total dumbass who merely thinks she's Solaris!
- ... oh. Emphasizing "not actually Solaris, just a self-important dumbass" makes her potentially playable in RP places that forbid gods, doesn't it.
Fanfiction, as a medium, isn't defined by the fact that it's in conversation with an extant work of fiction. All fiction is in conversation with other fiction. Fanfiction is defined by the fact that the specific extant work of fiction it is in conversation with is the entire reason for reading it.
This also informs the structure of the work. In so-called "original fiction", you need to do the work of establishing the setting and characters, it needs to halfway stand on its own, and so forth. WIth fanfiction, it's the opposite; you can assume that anyone who reads it is already familiar, AUs and other modifications notwithstanding.
And that is the difference between, say, "an original story based on Sherlock Holmes, who is in the public domain", and "Sherlock Holmes fanfiction."
The latest chapter of the maids-in-frumpy-uniforms-doing-skateboard-tricks manga is a swimsuit episode.
I don't know what gets me more: 1. the fact that they did it at all, 2. the fact that they did it even though the characters are already wearing maid uniforms, which is its own kind of fanservice, or 3. the fact that, in contrast to the fact the entire main cast wears identical maid uniforms, they all have different swimsuits.
Like I have no idea why this is all so hilarious to me when I'm not walking facefirst into anhedonia, what?
the best part of the Searching For A World That Doesn't Exist duology was when the King in Yellow said "its ... doesn't existin time" and. didn't exist. all over those two guys
There's three kinds of people: people who understand off-by-one errors, and people who don't.
OK, so:
- If Paramount ever decides to adapt Sonic 2006, they'll undoubtedly cut out Princess Elise. Yeah, she deserves better than that, but she's a controversial enough character among the fandom that they'll probably just do without entirely.
- One of the reasons for this controversy is the fact that she kisses Sonic to revive him after he gets killed by the game's central antagonist, Mephiles the Dark.
- Sonic "dying" is an iconic enough moment that it'd be basically mandatory.
- In Sonic 2006, Princess Elise is the unwilling host of the Flames of Disaster, which have apocalyptic implications and contain part of the entity which serves as the final boss.
- In the Paramount continuity, Knuckles has "the Flames of Disaster" as an ability which he can just do.
Therefore, if Paramount does a Sonic 2006 adaptation, Knuckles will take on Elise's role of being the unwilling host, which means that he will be the one to kiss Sonic,
Metal Overlord is great because the situation is that we're talking about an evil robotic Sonic the Hedgehog-copy, who transformed into a larger and spikier evil robotic Sonic the hedgehog-copy, who then transformed into a giant robot-dragon-monster, who finally transformed into a larger and spikier robot-dragon-monster.
Also the first robot-dragon-monster is basically named after the last level in the game where the evil robotic Sonic the Hedgehog-copy was introduced.
listening to All Hail Shadow, frowning and shaking my head so people know I don't approve of the lyrics being about how suffering automatically makes you better
Oh, I would've bet money that FF7R3 was going to be called "Final Fantasy VII Reunion." Guess I lost that bet.
I suppose "Reunion" would've been Extremely Generic for a FF7 game. ... And instead, they went with something Extremely Generic in general.
Akira Toriyama, in 1988: Okay, so that's how Goku and Piccolo will defeat Raditz. Next, I need to escalate the threat for the new villains Vegeta and Nappa after that.
Toriyama: Hmm ... I know! I'll make them way more powerful than Raditz! So powerful, in fact, there's no way whatsoever that the heroes can defeat them, short of becoming stronger!
(Weird Route jingle plays)
Grace, approaching Po and pointing dramatically: I found you, faker!
Po, who hasn't played Sonic Adventure 2 and also doesn't know that she's being positioned in this comic as the Shadow the Hedgehog of Grace: What. What in the world are you talking about.
For some reason whenever I say the word "transsexual", I have this urge to say it in the exact same transatlantic accent as Frieza.
So y'know obviously for something like me, everyone who tries to attack me is instantlossbait, but every so often I have some manly-dude come at me who has an epithet like "the Demon Swordsman" or "the Unbreakable Blade" kind of thing. You know the type, they're all "oh I'm too powerful, nothing matters to me except battle, I need a worthy opponent" etc. etc.
So obviously I showboat just long enough to make it obvious that I'm not in any actual danger of losing the fight before shattering my opponent's blade, but recently I've started adding a little extra flare to it.
I'll be like. "Oh. So seeking me out was what you imagined to be the manliest thing you could do at that moment, huh? Wow. I mean if you were a pretty lady, maybe I'd bother to give you the time of day! So strong, and yet you can't even take your destiny in your own hands!" and so on. Estrogen's bound to save someone.
This work is marked CC0 1.0
"Here in my garaaage, just bought this uh new Lamborghini here. But you know what I like more than materialistic things? (Being pretentious about) knowledge. I had to get seven new bookshelves installed to hold 2000 new books. Maybe you've seen my TEDx talk where I talk about reading a book a day. 2000 divided by 365 days equals about five and a quarter years. I'm apparently expressing the view that books are interchangeable, can always be read and understood in one (1) day, and increase this attribute called 'knowledge' like you're an RPG character. It wasn't that long ago that I had a humble backstory designed to make me seem relatable, but then I ran into mentors, which are another thing I'm treating as interchangeable. Now, this isn't a get-rich-quick scheme (which I'm defining in a way specifically to exclude what I'm doing here), if something sounds too good to be true it usually is (like this video). So come to my website, and watch a different video."
Just saying! (I've connected the dots "You haven't connected shit" I've connected them.)
I mean I love HLVRAI as a whole, and I know that "strange and terrible things happen to me" are part of wayneradiotv's whole shtick, but like. The first HLVRAI had Coomer and Tommy being relatively friendly towards him, but like in HL2VRAI it feels like it's the entire team is being jerks to him for no reason, or for reasons which contradict what the audience knows and/or are otherwise just unreasonable, and tbh I personaly just find it exhausting at times.
Last night while I was waking up, I dozed off again and had a dream which involved writing a smutty story which then basically smash cut to me writing some sort of editorial article or polemic blog post in which I claimed that everyone could be divided into the two categories of "Below" and "My Ex". This is exactly how much detail the dream went into. My subconscious will apparently not be taking any questions at this time.
Luci Demon Turf, struggling with her bisexual awakening: To Beebz or not to Beebz, that is the question ...
The implication that Ragnar could've met Vindra again by just making his castle hover about twice as high, or whatever. Admittedly, if Vindra and Ragnar ended up in the same room together, I can't see that conversation going even slightly different from how Beebz's meeting with her went ("What do you mean you just left our daughter in Forktown!?" "You haven't changed at all, you just want to tie me down!!"), but the important thing is, it would've happened!
Second funniest is that it spends the whole game building Vindra up as this mythic figure, and then you actually meet her, and she's like that. Like after meeting Vindra, I'm completely sold on Beebz's backstory.
Third funniest: my realization a day or two later that the dialogue carefully avoids having Ragnar or Roc ever address Beebz by name because for the entire game, they only knew her as "Gale".
I'm afraid that when I watched Gundam 79, I couldn't take Sayla seriously at Ryu's funeral because she had the exact expression from the "I'm not calling you 'good boy'" meme.
"I'm not calling you 'good girl', Sayla, that funeral was shit!"
If there's an advantage the VOD version of HL2VRAI has over the edited version, it's the absolute comedic timing of the loading screens. Like I completely understand why they were fully edited out, and it is annoying to have to skip ten minutes of video and struggle to find where it ends, but it's still great.
Sometimes I kind of wonder if, like, such-and-such musicians who did stuff for movies and whatnot have done any interviews about it.
Like, how did Arianne like working with Gainax, how did she feel about writing a cheerful-sounding song with the lyrics "It all returns to nothing / it all comes tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling dowwwwwn" set to a scene where everyone in the world gets hugged and turned into Tang? How did members of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra feel about performing music for a game where a blue hedgehog who goes fast turns into a slow-moving werewolf, and also how much fun did they have playing intentionally-badly for the E-Rank music? That kind of thing.
I'm a robot, Sonic, I can't get pregnant.
Train of thought:
- Jaret Reddick: "I see it! I see it now, it's always been inside of me!" Beaker: "Meemee meemee mee mee meeeeee!"
- Sonic the Hedgehog Muppets.
- Sonic Unleashed Muppets (since that was the Sonic Unleashed themesong)
- Kermit the Werefrog.
- Miss Piggy Rouge.
Last night I had a dream about a movie where part of the premise was ripped off of the wikipedia article and whatnot about Con Air starring Nic Cage (I was aware of this in the dream itself), i.e. a white guy kills a fellow American in self-defense and gets sent to jail because he is or was a member of the US military who is too good at killing (Con Air takes place in a much better world than ours, apparently, but I digress).
In the dream, he got hazed by a bunch of other prisoners who tried to gang up on him and beat him up, but he kept just singlehandedly knocking out all of them. A particularly tough group showed up, and in this breathy growly threatening voice, he said, "What will you do if you take me to the bathroom, and I shit myself tomorrow?" and I started laughing so hard I woke up, which did not help my sleep situation,
Skipmore's new game Post Apocalypse Microbe Lab takes place in the same universe as Transiruby, judging by the Dimension Fall in PAML's opening credits, and it introduces my favorite new worldbuilding detail:
- "Cyborgs" in this setting have visible obvious metal bits sticking out as well as fuckoff huge tubes sticking out of their backs, they can turn into motorcycles and so on, two out of the three cyborgs we see have clearly-artificial paper-white skin
- "Androids" by default look more-or-less identical to baseline humans.
I just misread "World Fencing League" as "World fucking League" (as in, with "fucking" as an intensifier, not what kind of league it was)
Sonic the Hedgehog and Judith Mossman: both are portrayed by Snapcube in an improv fan-comedy in which someone else was asked what they were fucking talking about.
Valve should make "Half-Life Azian" where you play as Alyx's mom in Black Mesa during Half-Life 1, ending with her doing some sort of heroic self-sacrifice to give Eli time to escape with Alyx or something. And they should make it in the Half-Life 1 engine.
Neon Genesis Lovely Angelion.
The Dirty Pair fucks up so colossally, everyone in the universe gets turned into tang.
Personal Color's Touhou doujins tend to be full of stunning visuals, fascinating worldbuilding, and intriguing plots which only slightly resemble the source material. It's kind of charming in its own way, really.
Definitely stuck in the EoSD black hole though.
What does Shadow the Hedgehog even do in his downtime? We basically only ever see him in the middle of excitement, or like brooding over his victory or failure immediately afterwards. Is it just, like, all brooding all the time?
I want Professor Tori/Victoria to turn out to be Maria Robotnik's as-yet-unnamed sister, but only after we've had enough time for her to show up in some official side-story written by someone who didn't get the memo, so it depicts her in a way that sorta contradicts this. Y'know, like how Murder of Sonic has Sage still with a black dress and red glitches.
