@Holberg@mstdn.social The Oregon State basketball band had “Things Can Only Get Better” in their set list when I was there playing trumpet and watching the Beavers lose.

Several years ago I accidentally re-discovered the Gallileian moons of Jupiter with my son’s $25 plastic telescope from Lakeshore Learning.
We have a nicer one now and it’s amazing what you can see.
Jupiter is the big one making the diffraction spike.
IO, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto are all nearly consumed by the spike but clearly visible even when I put my phone up to the viewfinder.
It looks AMAZING in person. My point is you don’t need fancy stuff to enjoy astronomy.
For Mother's Day I got my wife the gift of "not chaperoning kids at a Pokémon event".

@gingerbeardman I was having problems with a joystick and my son asked out loud if maybe the USB hub was causing problems. Plugged it directly into the PC and the joystick worked perfectly. The lesson seems to be it’s OK to listen to you kids and Hubble would be a helpful debugging tool

@laamaa I love the string samples! You rarely hear that texture out of the GameBoy or even in chiptunes in general.

@gingerbeardman This is very cool. I’m going to take a look at several including the to-do and the translation shortcut.
Logged 68 miles and 3600 feet of climbing including the last four consecutive days of cycling this week and I am certainly feeling like it is early in the season and I do not yet have my riding legs.

@acollierastro@mastodon.social Hiya - I don't know how I discovered your channel, but the first video of yours I watched was the one where you played Binding of Isaac and told me how string theory had lied to me - personally - as someone who read Elegant Universe when it was released. 😝 I've been hooked ever since!
Love your videos. Keep them coming!

@mogwai_poet@mastodon.social I like to read this as “Super Special Mario Bros”. Kinda like “Super Sloppy Double Dare”.

@personamatters@ohai.social As I can barely be bothered with CDs, the key to this issue is having a friend who has all of this set up.
Unless you become that friend in your area… Oh no!
