I’m so tired of Tahoe bugs and shitty design decisions, it’s the worst OS, quality-wise, Apple has ever shipped.

@wendynather@infosec.exchange @Lana@beige.party that was a really formative idea for my partner, it may not be as commonly remembered but still important. Our WiFi network is ‘Infinite Diversity’ as a reference to it.

@Orb2069@mastodon.online @jeff@my0.net @roknrol@beige.party @Lana@beige.party you see the same thing with X-Men, it was especially prevalent after X-Men ‘99 hit. The algorithm loves that.

Barbecue chicken with fresh coleslaw and baked sweet potatoes for lunch. Mushroom chicken soup (pictured) for dinner; days are cook a lot are the rare happy place days.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@developerjustin/116482909709403952 Hmm, if we could actually get RSS back into semi-normie use this would be really useful, for now, it seems like an interesting tool for us nerds. Bookmarking for further exploration!

@Lumi @eniko unfortunately, not needing to use or know how to use ai in development is itself becoming a kind of privilege. Hopefully, companies will rediscover their need for crafted code soon when they reach a debt crisis.

@lumi @eniko yeah, that’s totally fair, but as someone who wants to get back into development after a few years caretaking, I don’t feel like at least learning the technology is optional if I actually want to find a job right now. I know plenty of other devs that are being forced to use it too. It, nonetheless, sucks.

Remember when AirPods device switching worked more than 15% of the time? I miss when Apple wrote decent software.

@hipsterelectron@circumstances.run @amy@sk.girlthi.ng yep, I’m on an M1. If Asahi is successful and I can replace the apps I love, I have been eying the new Framework laptops. Being able to run real containers with GPU support would be a huge improvement and a decent window manager I wouldn’t constantly need to fight with all the time would be delightful.

@amy@sk.girlthi.ng @hipsterelectron@circumstances.run I’m really considering trying Asahi, if I could bring my favorite Mac apps along I’d have gone Linux primarily a year ago.

@js@mastodon.nl admittedly, I barely used macOS back at that age point and remember not being impressed but I definitely didn’t really evaluate it. Perhaps I should have said the worst Mac OS X+ OS they’ve ever shipped.

@scottwilson@infosec.exchange that seems sensible. As a generalist dev, security is on my radar but I’m not an expert in it, it’s hard to evaluate the credibility. That said,
I’ve seen some of their claims on the coding end work out while others are complete nonsense, figured this might be the same kind of thing.

Thanks!

The MCP server spec *might* be a fine standard — I’ve only read a few bits of it so far — but the implementations of it in various clients/harnesses is wildly inconsistent.

Sure, VS Code, GitHub Copilot and Codex play nicely with all of them but Alter, Fluent, BoltAI and AnythingLLM, as consumer facing Mac clients, all fail some or every MCP server I tried.

Still better than LSP black magic fuckery, I suppose.

@js@mastodon.nl precisely what I want, really nail down stability, kill bugs and continue stripping back Liquid Glass, I like some of the component library behind it but lose the transparency. And, for the love of god, every single native window should have the exact same corner radius. I can’t imagine what Steve would have said about all of this.
