That was a wonderful workshop yesterday! We discussed diverse perspectives on “Structure and Interpretation: Towards Computational Historiographical Modeling”, in beautiful Lausanne. Thanks for the inspiring debates. Thank you for the great organization and invitation, @mxp@mastodon.acm.org!

Excited to see my blog post published at "Theory of History at Work":
How do we as historians engage with different digital and non-digital media formats - as sources, analytical tools, or forms of expression? I have shared some thoughts on that, building on a wonderful workshop with @dielindada@fedihum.org , @worknet@vis.social & @sschwandt@fedihum.org .

Upcoming workshop: “Multimodal History”
Historians increasingly work with images, objects, videos & data visualizations - expanding beyond traditional text-based research and publishing. This shift reshapes both source analysis and scholarly communication. In our upcoming workshop at @unibielefeld, @worknet@vis.social , @dielindada@fedihum.org, @sschwandt@fedihum.org, and I will explore the challenges and potentials of multimodal history.

🚀 Great kickoff to the workshop *"Scaling from Digital and Computational Perspectives"* at @CAS_LMU@wisskomm.social. Today's talks highlighted how different scales - of data structuring, analysis, and even of our reading and writing - can align productively. In many cases, however, aligning different scales remains difficult.
I am delighted to have contributed with my paper *"Augmented Vision: Scalable Heuristics for Historical Research."*

Scaling Art? Day 2 offered fascinating insights into how different levels of scale affect artworks - not just their aesthetics, but also their quantitative examination. We also learned about social science theories and scalable methods for identifying and measuring them. Key takeaway: Scaling levels aren’t always commensurable.
The concept of “scale” proved an excellent bridge for our interdisciplinary discussions over the past two days. Kudos to organizer @julianschroeter@fedihum.org
