Spent Saturday and Sunday with my brother milling white ash into the parts needed for a new staircase. It’s a full-family project as the ash came from my wife’s family bush lot. The stairs are for our new home on the property where my wife’s grandparents lived from the 1940s on. My children are the fourth generation to have called it home.

Sorry to hear that David Wiffen has passed. We had the good fortune to be at the Cityfolk show in his honour a few years ago. It was a treat to hear his songs coming from Lynn Miles and Tom Wilson, among others.
Shortly after that I scored copies two of his albums on vinyl in my local record store.
Besides his solo work, he was in two bands with fellow Ottawa folk-hero Bruce Cockburn.
