Hey howdy there from Texas. I'm certainly wired, generally positive, and with a thousand interests in need of clones to pursue them... but we'd probably just start a book club instead of take over the world. As long as there is coffee, my pets, books, music, and Nintendos around... life is better than "meh." Go Texans! Go Rockets! Sports have been fantastic lately and I can't believe I've missed so much!

@backupbear May your shoes always be misplaced in the morning and you not realize it until you absolutely HAVE to leave the house right then. May your coffee order always be a little too cold, a little too sweet, or decaf when you need full caffeine for the day. May you forget to thaw out your protein for your evening meal and have to scramble for something else to make. I've got more, but for the harsher curses I'll add: May your foot be the first part of you that finds a stray LEGO on the floor every morning.

@cmconseils@mastodon.social When we did our relaunch, my location had qr codes on stickers in the bowling area & concessions lobby. They worked fine for the kitchen, but the bar had no clue where the drinks were going or who ordered them, and if they wanted popcorn or cokes from the concessions, that never printed out anywhere. So we would have to get them to open up their order so we could see what they'd pay for, write it down, and go get it. Our system was terrible; we hated it because we knew most were using it just to avoid tipping the bartender or us servers (and some folks don't tip anyway, so it was like "whatever"). The owners kept saying they were fixing them for months, but when the kids just started peeling the QR stickers off and playing with them, managers didn't replace them anymore & they all disappeared in a couple weeks. Nobody complained, not even the customers because they were tired of it taking twice as long to get their orders.

CEOs who approve of and push for dynamic pricing in stores and have those price tags on the shelves that change abruptly (sometimes multiple times a day), or digital menus at restaurants that do the same, need to be sent to the Special Hell.

You know, the one reserved for child molesters, and people who talk in the theater.

I get you about the dew. I need to keep mowing so bad, but my grass is so overgrown that I'd get bogged down thanks to the dew. Hope I make some progress this evening on cutting around my house more because I heard we're supposed to get several days of rain, maybe a little tonight (and my weeds have grown several feet near my deck and need some care for mine and my pets' safety.

I'd cut down the weeds and grass enough yesterday that I found my neighbor's cat at the edge of the tall grass. The neighbors' cats have definitely been honing their hunting skills in that jungle I had back there. I'm keeping my back 3/4 of an acre wild as I can for the wildlife (got a couple trees knocked down during Hurricane Beryl that I'm just gonna work around and let rot where they are; help the ecosystem).

Can be used for a ton of purposes, too, but it's cool to see a bunch of guys working together on hobbies and stuff outside of sporting events (that's about the only time I see teamwork emphasized when it comes to guys anymore). I love this. Need more of these vibes out there.

@josh My Utopia. Honestly, I'm trying to calm down the jungle in my backyard right now. Got a good head start yesterday with my mower (had to jump the brand-new battery for some reason) and I've got potholes all over thanks to wild pigs tearing it up last year, but I am fighting my way over to the garden so I can spend weeks cleaning it up a bit at a time and get the soil ready to go for fall (and clean out all those weeds).
