@benis_redux@cawfee.club Want every beam to be able to support 3ft of snow load plus the structure. I'm not gonna insure the structure so want it to be able to handle an F2 tornado easily. Going to even bolt my lexan onto the perlins with 1/4" bolts every 8" instead of using self tapping screws. I've seen sheets get ripped off of greenhouses enough times with our random 85mph winds.

Holy shit, I just saw a tesla truck with a riding lawn mower in the back. First time I've seen something being hauled with one other than groceries.

Since I have a greenhouse half empty at friends place I could use that area to stack sun dried bricks until I get the land bought to fire them in a kiln. Could probably even build a shitty temporary kiln out of them to do an initial firing so I wouldn't have to spend a grand on bricks to build a real kiln. If I make my own bricks for building the kiln I can probably add some extra sand and perlite to them to make them more heat resistant. Don't want my arched kiln roof to turn into pudding and collapse.

Just made final jeeb payment. Now just need to make $100 a day selling bred and veggies to be break even. Should be possible, just will need to sell like 6 loaves of bred and $60 of veggies to do that and pay for gas. Now that temps are cooler I'll get my mushroom tent going too and maybe harvest some honey. Hoping I make like 3x the break even amount, then I will just have to sell shit like 3 days a week to be moving forward again. Might try to just do it every day tho for the next couple months while veggie production going good. At least I can chill on my porch in the mornings while baking shit for 5 hours. Can wake up at 10 and bake till 3 and then sell from 4 till wheneves. Nice that is legal for me to just park on main street and hock my stuff. And have starlink on my jeeb so I can just watch youtube or work on CAD(minecraft) while selling stuffs.

@dassauerkraut@shortstacksran.ch I'd just have A and B to start and leave the 3rd phase empty of breakers. Then when I get the 3 phase service installed I'll have C phase. That's another issue tho, last time we priced getting 3 phase they wanted 20K to add cross bars and 2 wires for a half mile. Since now we will have two locations needing three phase maybe they will subsidize it a bit more, or I can split the cost with my friend because he wants 3 phase there too.

@benis_redux@cawfee.club The lexan expands and contracts like 1/2" per 10' with our temperature range so that will at a lot of pressure on the bolts as well. Kinda crazy how they are all built with self tapping screws normally.

Hmmm maybe need some way to mount a magnet in the pipe and have a hall effect sensor on the outside of the pipe with a custom tiny circuit board. That would be a better long term solution. Think that would still be in the $10 range. Would require 3 wire conductors tho to the sensors.

@harblinger@wizard.casa Think I'm gonna just make my own tiny circuit board with a hall effect sensor. Throw like an ardruino tiny chip on a board with the sensor and when the field changes a bunch because the magnet on a string is moving around inside the pipe I know water if flowing. Maybe add a trim pot to adjust sensitivity and an rgb led.

Some electricians around here charge $120 an hour... makes it tempting. Especially since I can do PLC stuffs that most can't do. I want to be able to run to Thailand winters tho and people don't like it when you are gone and their shit breaks.

Since raising fish for meat is wrong livelyhood, I'm gonna attempt ~70-80 deg water for my aquaponics systems with Koi and tropical fish. Might have to have a colder system too for lettuce. Or spray the water on the roots and have airflow on the roots to cool them evaporativly to prevent bolting.

Parents might be giving out some shit to us kids as they do their divorce. They don't want each other getting things and would rather chillens get the things. Might be getting a Bobcat and ditchwitch which would help immensely building my shop. My dad is weird about lending out his equipment so kinda unexpected.

I probably need at least 25k bricks by next summer. At 50¢ a brick I think would def be worth my time to spend a few months making bricks. Shit ton of perlite ordered. Gonna need to cut a shit ton of firewood too.

Instead of building a steel fireplace in the greenhouse I should build two small brick kilns and alternate between them firing bricks and thick floor tiles for building projects. Heat the greenhouse/shop and not have to pour a fuck ton of concrete slab floors. The bricks won't be exposed to frost so I think 12 hour nightly firings would be sufficient. I need like 50k 12" floor tiles and I bet I could make all of em over ~5 winters. Would just need to mold 500 tiles a week, making a clay extruder and cutting the tiles with a wire might be worthwhile. Would be better than spending 75k on concrete and would look way better too.

@benis_redux@cawfee.club I think I'd do like 4" thick sand and make sure the clay under is packed super well... like wet it down weekly and pen up some cows in it for a month. Maybe after my footings are poured I'll backfill all my dirt and pen off the area. If the clay below is properly compacted I think I'll be fine. There will be cows on the feild I'm building on this winter so could just feed hay bales inside the area I want trampled.

Relative wants to borrow my welder. Have to resist ordering a lime green 56" harbor freight tool box to mount my tig/mig welder and my argon & C25 bottles to and have space for all welding tools... Would work very well, the drawers are even wide enough I could have one dedicated to tig filler rods and the chonky drawer could hold welding helmet and face shield.
