So many of us would socialise and joke and create safe work cultures, on slack (or similar). Share parts of our lives and worries... Now all that is indexed by the company Claude.

I've again found myself overloaded and trailing behind vibe coders who can make PRs faster than they review and test other people... so i made a thing to make that gap visible and because naming things is hard, i called it Workload Walrus #opensource #GitWorkflowhttps://www.workloadwalrus.com

I reckon the era of vibe coding feels different for software engineers from demographics that were always treated with suspicion and accused of being a "fake". Girls don't code, they said, and now you're used to having to prove it all the time in an era when we're supposedly not supposed to even code. I think we're heading for an era where being a great coder doesn't help you, so tech will get even more white boy.

@zkarj Authy is nice

People no longer have pissing contests over how old they were when they got their first computer. Thank deity.

When i'm the first person to join the meeting i talk to Gemini in Te Reo Maori until someone else arrives. Nobody has ever said to me they notice this in the gemini summary.

So, in stargate, they arrive on a planet they've never been to, and... Their GPS receivers work. How?

I enjoy saying "so you're really into Disney" to star wars fans.

The thing I object to most is the idea that AI replaces talking to other humans.

My first job was using IBM os2 warp.. And some BeOS. When I left uni in late 90s I used mandrake Linux. Not long after I moved to Ubuntu Somehow, every job since I've managed to convince them to let me use Ubuntu. I dunno how long this can continue but learning something else at this point would be annoying.

My gender is........ Watching people with long hair they constantly need to move out of their face all day or need elaborate morning routines to tame it and wondering why they don't just cut it off every few months instead.

Cleaning up messes left by vibe ciders is why my PRs are so big... But this tidying isn't valued so meh. I'm not gonna do this anymore. Sigh.

Do normal people judge people by their tld choices?

Haven't ventured out of Miramar on my bike for a while. Today I went to Petone. Holy shit it's good out there. Still some gaps but wow it was nice.

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz fun fact, the driver on the left can barely see the truck on the right.
