I hate the "born this way" as the only correct way to look at sexual orientations, it just feels like pleading not guilty for something that should never be a crime to start with.
I also can't really imagine myself anything but born this way. This is despite of spending way too much of my earlier life wanting to be correctly existing as allo-pan, and I still don't write off being in a domestic relationship; I just don't think I will ever be on the same wavelength with an allo and vice versa.

@faithisleaping@anarres.family I was gonna disagree then I realised the peak white rice that I default to (short grain, extremely limited in growth) are so rare that you probably have to know a farmer around Amur to even have access to it.
Japanese omirice/fried rice distinctively needs short grains. Otherwise, I legit can't think of anything that are accessible internationally that are good.

I love trains. I'm understanding on why we don't have Asian or European quality intra city trains (population density) and I get why we need buses, just saddened that trains only cover a tiny percentage of public transport, and my motion sickness means buses is a bad experience for anyone near me.
In my entire life, I've seen new tech coming in, and it's usually first recognised by people in niche technical interests, and embraced by the young and experimental, while older more conservative crowd tut tut tut at the "new fangled rubbish".
GenAI/LLM is the only time I've seen the exact opposite.

I once had explanation on why poor arse 20 year old Chinese women felt they need to have extremely expensive brand bags to show off, it was actually really confronting to me in regard to nasty gender politics that I was spared of.

I do love the art of it. I make resin jewellery for friends as well, with memory pieces with passed pet fur or whatever that's important for them. I love them so much as an aesthetic thing and as a personalised thing. Just not a social pressure thing.

Past six months had been noticeable in that I'm randomly just by-the-way visiting food places again. Anything that are top 20 hits on search engines tend to be terrible, over priced, generic and bland; but also the cost in SEO marketing goes into their menu so you'd pay $22 for the worst burger possible. None of the pictures are reliable, if they are not AI slop then they are falsely presented by food photographers or flatly stolen from online stock. Most reviews are paid shrills. It's almost like if you want to read a good book in 2020 just random pick up a book in a library, and avoid anything making into Goodreads top 20.
It's pretty nice because I always liked spontaneously turning up to places to try things. It's not like any of the mega chain restaurants even knew how to accurately convoy their opening hours online anyway.

@faithisleaping@anarres.family Personally I have stronger aro identity than ace identity, but I also think it's because sex is an act that's not difficult for me (even if sexual attraction is not intuitive), while romance is something that's far less well defined and if you don't get it you just don't get it.
Plus I think we are more socially pressured to be alloromantic, even from young age via fairytales. At least most pop culture don't start to force sexualise children until they are 10. Extra bonus while erase their own innate sexuality, oh no anything sexual must be for the benefit of Dan Schneider and alikes.
