Mostly studied writers and readers and the worlds they create between them. Now, I'm an arts writer, fiction writer (contemporary fantasy, and epic fantasy as Curt Benjamin).

So the article about how changes in arts funding will affect artists and small companies and their communities is here. After 60 years, they are reversing the flow of money from the communities to the big development projects.

Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers is closing up shop after its March 27-28 home stand. I will miss them dreadfully, but I got a chance to have one last conversation with the founders, Kun-Yang Lin and Ken Metzner.

Well, that was a weekend. Wrote most of an essay on Saturday, with just break to go to a panel discussion on a new opera I'm going to see in a couple weeks. Sunday, went to the baseball game, stopped for dinner with my nephew on the way home, then finished the essay when I got back.
We lost the baseball game but dinner was good and I think the essay is too. The. deadline was tomorrow, and I handed it in tonight, so for good or ill it is done. Will probably run on Wednesday.
It may not be an important essay, but the topic--what we are losing now that the Pennsylvania Council for the Arts has rebranded as Pennsylvania Creative Industries and gotten rid of all the grants for tiny arts orgs. Ugh~
It was an amazing weekend of dance—Koresh, Paul Taylor—and PHILADANCO!— but I was out of town and missed them all. (Shakes fist at scheduling gods).
But I did get to chat with a couple of the Choreographers for DANCO! Wish I could have been there!
