Herbie Hancock - Thrust (Columbia, 1974)

Long before Victor Glover made history as the first black man to orbit the moon, Herbie piloted a synth-controlled spaceship to extraterrestrial Machu Picchu, propelled by jazz-funk thrusters.

NYT compiled a list of 30 greatest living American songwriters fwiw, with all the expected biases of the platform and filtering by Times pop critics. What I find more interesting is the sample of "expert" (especially musician) ballots. gift links below #music #songwriting

@4CPcomics I had a couple of those Verve remixed cds but haven't listened to them in years. I remember it was a big deal (at least to a small group of jazz × hip-hop heads) when Madlib was granted access to the Blue Note catalog https://open.spotify.com/album/6jRvDpOc9oi3sjQuoPK7if?si=4oHVoS8CSuatqWDsH4Y_zA
