@jobanab@poa.st @Hoss@shitpost.cloud I recently watched this video about emulation system manufacturers in China. It really made me think about how they still have actual manufacturing done locally. In America you need to jump through 1000 legal hoops to do anything, and I imagine it's worse in Europe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbpMRDIqt6A

@TarnishedYarmulke@nicecrew.digital @jobanab@poa.st @Hoss@shitpost.cloud Canada has tons of natural resources, but we have basically no manufacturing because its either illegal or prohibitively expensive

@heavens_feel@poa.st Old post that's a classic

@cell@shitposter.world @lain@lain.com Gabe didn't just buy a huge yacht. He was really impressed by the quality of them that he bought that yacht COMPANY

I took a nap and now I'm all messed up

The "waifu lover" as the modern troubadour

I had like 4 mosquitos in my room. I tried attacking them all, but I'm not sure I got them. These bugs are pissing me off

In case you're wondering why some shitty 2 hour long cutscene game is getting such massive coverage online

I really like this Jones pineapple soda syrup I got. I bought a bunch of it too. It's much cheaper to make it myself than buy the glass bottles

Them bitcrushing the voices actually made it better, like actual radio comms https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JMzhta3AUw

Saw one of the magpies on my walk. There were crows too, but they flew off cawing

Did anybody even know that Quantic Dream released a moba? Apparently it's being discontinued after 3 months when nobody played it

It's crazy that Mario Kart 8 came out 12 years ago

Had a good walk. I threw out a bunch of trash and saw a couple of the crows

Adding some baking soda definitely makes sparkling water a bit more palatable and less sour. And for homemade soda it means I can use less syrup too

I've been playing through the Live A Live remake and it's really good. The JP voice acting, visuals, etc, are all great. It would definitely be nice if they did the early Final Fantasy's in this style

@merchantHelios@poa.st If only it wasn't stuck with NISA ruining them now

Lately many sites have been requesting you create a "passkey" I assume that is because they want to link it to a digital ID in the future and this is a major step towards that.
Instead of having a username and password you will be required to have the digital ID to login to everything.

@ChristiJunior@detroitriotcity.com @sickburnbro@poa.st "So white people can have countries to themselves and refuse to let in any browns?" "NO!!!" No different from wanting all white people dead

Its been pretty stormy out so I haven't been on that many walks, but I saw the crows and squirrel today

I would still hope they release an offline version of Dragalia Lost, with actual controls for something like Switch 2. Or just make a new game entirely

Did my first run with Teio and got an S!

Hololive is getting rid of 6 of their male streamers, after saying they are going to stop dumping money into them when they weren't earning much

This person is doing some kind of mod with cool OoT environments

The crows are still fighting with the magpie. And squirrels sounding the alarm when they saw the magpie following me

I have finally got fed up with Adobe putting garbage into Acrobat that I looked for an alternative. This Sumatra PDF reader does the job well enough. Just have to go into the settings and enable one of the dark themes

@DarkGura@detroitriotcity.com @fatepony@poa.st Yeah openrouter and sillytavern is great, you can just pay with crypto too

The Live A Live remake does have a pretty bad translation though. There are many lines which are just 100% not translated correctly at all.
They must have been pissed that they couldn't butcher the prehistoric section since it has no spoken dialogue

Goodnight

@coolboymew@shitposter.world Admire Vega is the most chud uma though

And he uses the word "genius" which has changed quite a bit too.

@RealRaul @MasterSimper Remember to bring a banana as a gift

Aliens, ghosts, demons, etc, are all very similar in their nature as non-physical entities. Also this definition of demon is from Webster's first 1828 dictionary.

@ThatWouldBeTelling @sickburnbro

I just saw the squirrel today

I will never like Blue Archive because I hate the halos they have. I don't care how much fanart gets made, the halos are not good

When I was a kid and rented Yoshi's Story I had no idea how to get past this asshole so I stopped. I had played other games with ground pounding as a kid, but there was nothing to indicate that you had to do it against this guy

I tried out NTE and it's very unimpressive. I'm spoiled by how much better the combat in ZZZ is. Mihoyo actually has some good game designers
I kind of expected NTE to be a shooter since it's trying to copy GTA as well, but they just made it a straight up Genshin clone too

Had a nice walk. I saw some crows, a magpie and a black cat

@lichelordgodfrey@poa.st I wanted to get a modded 360 at some point, there are a lot of exclusive games that I'd like to go back and play. No idea about the original Xbox though

The pair of crows really wanted to chase off the magpie. And some flower blooms

Types of translations

Direct translation: Seeks to show as closely as possible what the original work is like. May include transliterations like romanization, translation notes, etc. Does not mind breaking the 4th wall or disrupting immersion in order to help the reader better understand the original intent.

Literal or natural translation: Seeks to translate the text as literally or naturally as possible. A literal translation may do this to the point of things being clunky, while a natural translation may take more liberties to change phrases or wordings so they feel as if they were in the translated language to start with.

Localization: Seeks to update or modernize a work to make it more popular. This includes changing phrases, references, etc, into the translated language's modern equivalent.

Rewrite: Seeks to considerably change the text of the original so they have a totally different context or intent.

@greenshoots@poa.st @DrRyanSkelton@poa.st They aren't in starships and don't come from vast distances. "Alien" just means foreign, as in foreign to this material plane as well. There is a reason that "UFO encounters" seem to be able to break the laws of physics as well as directly respond based on the emotions and thoughts of others. I can believe that true connection with "otherworldly beings" can test a persons faith in many ways.

Got another good S rank. Now I have an S in everything except dirt. Got a nice big stat bonus on that run

Grok's Japanese tweet translation is pretty good. Even just looking at the English version I can tell what the original Japanese text was based on intuition and how I would translate it, and it's often the same

Chinese gacha games need you to select the language on bootup, I don't want to be listening to English VAs

Only Peppy seems about the same
