Amy
An iOS and macOS developer on the internet. Check out https://healthkitty.app and https://ridejournal.app
I’m currently on the look out for my next bit of contract work. I’m an iOS developer working on apps since 2008. I have a passion for health and fitness apps and have released indie apps. I write about my work and speak at meetups and conferences.

The more interaction with AI and the people who say it’s the future, the more I’m convinced that the future is people who spend the time to think through problems and gain understanding for themselves. Take things slowly and learn why something is what it is. Don’t just accept that it is.
Drumroll please. It’s release time. My latest app Mobile Builds is now available on iOS. It’s a way of visualising data from Xcode Cloud. https://mobilebuilds.app #iOSDev #macOSDev #buildTools #buildInPublic
There are two cities dear to my heart that I would love to one day live in, those are Tokyo and San Francisco. So much so that when friends mention them I have a longing deep in my heart to be there again.
Slow code Fridays. Put away the AI tooling and enjoy the time spent writing code by hand.
Okay indie iOS and macOS developers, how do you manage all the extra stuff about a release. What tools do you use to plan things and make sure everything is done? #iOSDev #macOSDev #indieDev #buildInPublic
I always struggle to remember the details of what goes into each build of the apps I work on so a few days back I wrote a shell script to automate it as a step in my Xcode Cloud workflow. The write up about it is at https://cuteios.dev/2026/05/10/shell-scripts/ #iOSDev #Xcode #automation
Just a casual 54km ride this morning. I’m excited and dreading when I finally decide to do a ride like Mt Pleasant. Mainly because after I’ve done it once I’ll just keep doing that ride daily. #melbourne #cycling
And we're now back to the claude requesting access to random folders on my mac that I will never give it access to.
This week has been crazy. First week back from 3 week holiday from $job and getting back into the swing of things. Evenings spent building a web app to solve an indie dev problem and now finally implementing a feature in @ridejournal@indieapps.space that I've been wanting implemented for a very long time. How in the void is it only Wednesday? #iOSDev #health #cycling #indieDev
Like, I think the idea has legs and it's something a lot of indie developers will find useful, it's just imposter syndrome hitting hard right now.
But then again, the only way to know if it's a success is to put the site up online and hoping that others will make use of it as well.
An update to @ridejournal@indieapps.space went out this morning that allows you to import your cycling activity from Apple Health as well as existing support for FIT files. #cycling #health #iOSDev #buildInPublic https://apps.apple.com/au/app/ride-journal/id6529540288
Wheels down SYD. First time I’ve had the flight land earlier than usual. Gives me more time for the connection off to Tokyo.
Waiting for review. Shipping things is always fun. Another build of MobileBuilds is going through the process. #iOSDev #macOSDev #buildTools #buildInPublic
@zachsimone@mastodon.social finally got through the AppStore review process with https://mobilebuilds.app. It’s now available on iOS.
Hugs to everyone who needs it right now. It's just horrible out in the world right now and feeling overwhelmed and anxious about it is completely fine.
High repeat album for the weekend. https://music.apple.com/au/album/the-mountain/1837237742?l=en-GB
I’m loving that there’s a new Gaga single out and I’m headed to the clubs in Nichome this evening. https://music.apple.com/au/album/runway/1891472590?i=1891472591&l=en-GB
Yeah. Nah. Enough of that shitty movie. Back to doing more fun things.
Sometimes. Just sometimes you need to watch a truely awful movie.
It is absolutely a morning for listening to Taylor Swift while working. #iOSDev https://music.apple.com/au/album/folklore-deluxe-version/1528112358
@corduroy@aus.social would love your opinion on https://mobilebuilds.app since you mentioned using Xcode Cloud the other day. It’s finally available on iOS.
So Amy, what are you doing this fine evening? Well other Amy, I’m glad you asked…
Advice from a friend, engage in "Wine and Whine". Solution to lots of problems.
Evening tunes while I switch back to working on HealthKitty (https://healthkitty.app) and start adding in some more features. The indie developer lifestyle is constant context switching. #iOSDev #macOSDev #buildInPublic. https://music.apple.com/au/album/this-is-icona-pop/821408753
If you release a new web app / service and it doesn't have an MCP from day one, is it really worth releasing it?
