I used to think this was a game bug. Then the Iran war happened.

Good evening poast.
80% of the people taking the poll probably didn't even make the connection and would call you antisemitic if you do.

Anthropic's Fable is back.

US customers already have access and apparently I'm in the US because so do I.
I'll see if it actually makes a difference.

Microsoft has vowed to make Windows 11 actually work in 8GB of RAM, which is timely given that the company is shipping Windows PCs with 8GB of RAM.
https://www.tomshardware.com/software/windows/microsof
Before the DRAM Apocalypse advice was simple: Do not buy a system with 8GB of RAM unless it is user-upgradable and you plan to immediately upgrade it.
Now the advice is more along the lines of: Buy a Mac, or run Linux.
Since both of those options hit Microsoft below the water line, the company is finally bothering to start to unshit its bed. Long overdue and the outcome remains to be seen, but at least they're trying. Or claiming to try.

IMEC has laid out its roadmap towards a 0.3nm process in 2038.
https://www.tomshardware.com/tech-industry/semiconduct...
The article notes that this is marketing nonsense - well, the part you can read doesn't, but it's there in the details that you can't read - with actual feature sizes in the 10-20nm range. Since a single silicon atom has a diameter of 0.2nm, you can rest assured they're not building circuits that size.
The 0.3nm instead refers to the effective density thanks to increased use of 3D production to stack transistors vertically.

A few years ago I was talking about water security in the US SW.
So how is it doing today..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbdaSdrxUao
Probably a bad time to build endless data centers in California

Google search is dead, says... Google.
https://techcrunch.com/2026/05/19/google-search-as-you...
Calling it now, Miss Scarlett in the library with a rope?
Or just Google being Google.
Anyway, the plan is, now that Google has killed its premier product through years of malign neglect, to force you into an AI "experience" any time you want to look something up.
One small problem: I already have Grok for that, and it doesn't try to sell me stuff I don't want, and most of the time it doesn't lie to me either.
The secondary is problem is that behind the scenes Grok is using search engines like Google to pull related data together to answer your query. You can even watch it doing that, and if you have SuperGrok you can watch it spin up three different agents that perform different searches and argue about the correct answer, and oftentimes even get it right.
So the question is, if the underlying search engines go away, what happens to the AI experience? Does it go the way of the nudged quanta in the single data drawer among the galaxy of indexes of indexes?

Microsoft has announced its new operating system, available now.
https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-releases-its-f...
For suitably small values of "its", "new", and "available".
Azure Linux 4.0 is based on RedHat's Fedora 40, and you can download the source code on GitHub. There is no downloadable build to be found anywhere.

South Korea's national and regional governments and major industrial groups have jointly committed to $1 trillion in investment to expand production of chips and bots.
https://arstechnica.com/ai/2026/06/south-korea-to-spen...
$585 billion to increase chip production, with a particular focus on doubling memory production within five years.
$357 billion to construct new datacenters to, uh, use up all that extra memory.
And still more billions to expand production of robots and build 8 gigawatts of new generating capacity to power it all.

@Crux_Invictus@poa.st @LadyMont@spinster.xyz Lets see here
1910 - False - There was never a U.S. law prohibiting women from wearing pants. It was largely a matter of social norms.
1920 - False - The 19th Amendment prohibited denying the vote based on sex. It applied to all women legally. Saying only "white women" is deliberately misleading.
1963 -True - The Equal Pay Act of 1963 prohibited wage discrimination based on sex for substantially equal work.
1965 - Misleading - The Voting Rights Act of 1965 greatly reduced discriminatory practices that had prevented many Black Americans, both men and women, from voting. Black women already had the right under the 19th Amendment.
1969 - False - Women could petition for divorce long before 1969. Around 1969, California introduced no-fault divorce, making divorce easier for both husbands and wives.
1972 - Misleading - In 1972, the Supreme Court extended contraception rights to unmarried people. Married women already had constitutional protection to access contraception after 1965. The "without a man" wording is misleading.
1973 - True (on the federal level) - Roe v. Wade recognized a constitutional right to abortion, subject to limits. That remained until 2022.
1974 - False - Women could own property and buy homes long before 1974. The Equal Credit Opportunity Act (1974) prohibited discrimination in lending, making it much harder for banks to require a husband's signature or deny credit based on sex.
1988 - False - Women had owned businesses for centuries. The Women's Business Ownership Act (1988) removed some remaining barriers, such as requiring a male relative to co-sign certain business loans. It did not create the right to own a business.
1994 - False - Domestic violence laws existed long before 1994. The Violence Against Women Act expanded federal resources, funding, and legal tools but did not create the first legal protections.
2022 - True - The Supreme Court's Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade, removing the federal constitutional protection for abortion. States now set most abortion laws.
Six false statements, two misleading, and two true but on the same thing.
Just your typical spinster delusional rant

Sony has announced it will stop releasing PlayStation games on disc in 2028.
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0ryjyvjq41o
But that's okay. Sony doesn't have a habit of abruptly cancelling access to content you've already bought and refusing to offer refunds.
