mastodon 4.7.3I like linux, radio (ham and broadcasting), and all kinds of science and technology.
Linux: using Hyprland / Arch on my "daily driver" computer. I also maintain a Nextcloud server (Debian) and fool around with Raspberry Pi's.
Ham radio: 100% CW (I hold CWops member no. 5).
I'm a retired software developer, factory worker, broadcast engineer, tractor mechanic, and other things.
I discovered a neat thing for #linux window manager users:
rofi-polkit-agent-git. If you don't know, a polkit agent is the thing that pops up to ask for your password when running graphical applications that require administrative privileges.
This one uses the rofi Swiss-army menu function and so doesn't drag in a bunch of KDE or Gnome dependencies -- and looks right alongside your other rofi menus.
It's in the AUR.
I converted my Hyprland config to Lua! I wouldn't call it easy, mostly because I'm so old that I make a lot of dumb mistakes. Also I had a number of scripts that use Hyprctl, and I had to change the syntax there as well.
Now the only thing that doesn't work is clicking the workspace buttons in my Waybar. The Waybar workspace function doesn't work properly in the Lua environment. If anyone knows how to fix this, I'm all ears.
