OMG! The sliding door of our minivan got left open overnight in the literal typhoon. Toweled it down, but it will take a lot more than towels. Maybe I should run the heat on full without circulation for a couple hours. I do not like today. And I'm super tired from all the flood alerts from my phone last night. I wish my phone had told me the door was left open! How can I restore life to an hourly snapshot from yesterday? git revert something something... 😫

How???? How have I lived in Japan for this many years and I'm only just learning of Katta-kun the kindergarten visiting pelican?
TIL that it is the female ginkgo trees that stink in the most inappropriate way, not the male ones. And that smell is from butyric acid that comes out of its false fruits when they fall off the tree and break apart on the ground.
These flood evacuation alerts are waking me up in the middle of the night a little too often. I'm about ready to disable them, which kills the whole point of them.

@admins@famichiki.jp Oh good. I have been uncharacteristically absent for the past three days. Now I feel like I didn't miss anything. It feels like a snow day or something.

@dthompson@toot.cat Don't build out your own semiconductor fabrication plant. It is not worth the effort and you don't have the money or man-hours to do it in your lifetime.

This is so great. Here is a link to more on Perfect Forward Secrecy for anyone following along:

@gertvk@mastodon.nz For my primary, I'm preferring a server located in my same country (Japan), preferably using a domain name under a tld controlled by that country. This way, if things get really bad on the world stage and Japan is cut off from the world for periods, hopefully my local Delta Chat connections will stay reachable.
Man, today is the best day in a long time. As expected, Nene Royal won AGT. But, she also got to play with the Warning and then live with Linken Park. And it was ridiculously awesome. Can't wait to find out who she ends up touring with. I'm seeing rumors she is opening for A7X in Singapore next month. With so much bad news in the world these days, it is refreshing to follow her trajectory. 🤘

I guess the one thing I'm unsure about is whether this still works with connections that happen to be on the same server as you when it dies.
