@emilymbender@dair-community.social Somewhat off-topic: I think some grammatical errors and typos are fine. I really don't like things that are too polished. I work with someone whom English is a second language, and he obviously uses LLMs to write messages. I'd rather read his own broken English than to wonder if the LLM generated what he actually meant. Similarly, I like live music recordings with mistakes and improvisation. Gives things more character, IMO. Over-polishing everything can lead to a type of bland conformity.

@JustinDerrick@mstdn.ca @zenhob@butts.team "The market can stay irrational longer than you can remain solvent." Crypto is still going strong; been around for ~16 years. Tesla's stock is still higher than this same time last year.

@kimschulz@social.data.coop @blog One problem with Meshtastic that we see in my area is that the device with the lowest SNR repeats first. This is used as a proxy for "farthest node," but often, it's just a node with poor placement which causes reliability problems. Meshcore is much more reliable in my area. I think Meshcore is best for a group that can provide good, stable, "infrastructure," and Meshtastic is best for traveling/adhoc networks. I still don't fully understand Reticulum :)

@AutisticInnovator Checks out. I checked my local Texas Walmart Rollback section, and then one in Ohio, and it is quite a different selection of items on Rollback. (You can still buy chips on Texas SNAP; just not candy and drinks with added sugar).

@blogdiva Reminds me of the railroad execs a few years ago with their idiotic statements like: "The Carriers maintain that capital investment and risk are the reasons for their profits, not any contributions by labor."

@Daojoan@mastodon.social It's a shame worker cooperatives aren't more common. Many successful tech companies even have/had a flat structure that kind of mirrors worker coops; except they have parasites sucking up the profits.

@mkornblum Where did he make these assumptions that Opus is likely similar to Qwen or Kimi in cost? AFAIK, most people think Opus is a dense model, not an MoE, somewhere between 2T and 5T params. Those 2 things could easily put the cost over 10x of the cost of Kimi.

@evacide@hachyderm.io The city of Austin let their contract with Flock lapse after community input, then a few months later, the Texas DPS signed a contract to continue paying for them. Before this, some of the public was asking the government to take them down, but the government refused saying they're "private property" so they cannot. I have no doubt that Flock is using the cameras left up on some way; these people are actively hostile to the idea of consent.

@davidallengreen@mastodon.green IDK, I think the "watch the money," explains a lot of it. Some of the stuff he does is against general capitalist interest, but not against some people's personal self-interest. I believe he is trying to enrich himself and family by offering actions and policy for sale, and playing different interests against each other. He does the bidding of whoever offers him, personally, the most (I think there are massive bribes going on that we are not aware of), and engages in racketeering on a grand scale. For the stupid Greenland thing, Bezos, Gates, Bloomberg, and Altman are invested in Greenland's minerals. Thiel is backing the startup, Praxis, which is considering building a "Freedom City" in Greenland. Ronald Lauder is reportedly the billionaire who gave Trump the idea of acquiring Greenland.
