"Most of the new #solar installations recorded in the government’s official figures are on household rooftops, although these smaller solar systems make up slightly less than a third of the country’s total solar power capacity." 🌞 Choosing the right solar system starts with understanding your energy needs—not just comparing prices. Before investing, consider: ✅ Your average monthly electricity usage ✅ Available roof space ✅ Battery backup requirements ✅ Inverter compatibility ✅ Product warranties and after-sales support A well-planned solar installation can improve efficiency and provide long-term savings. Over 30 years ago we were one of the first in our area to obtain a small PV panel. It cost a months wages and produced 45W. Now, for a similar amount of inflation adjusted money, we have just installed 4KW of panels and 10Kw/h of battery storage and have been independent of the mains since installation in early April. Yesterday we passed 1MWh of electricity production! #solar #solarpower #solarenergy #pv #photovoltaic #selfsufficiency

What if cutting your electric bill was as simple as hanging a lightweight solar panel on your balcony and plugging it into a wall outlet? As utility costs keep climbing, a growing “balcony solar” movement is giving renters and homeowners a new way to generate their own power. #SolarPower #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy #EnergyCosts #ClimateSolutions #GreenLiving #Sustainability #SolarEnergyhttps://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/may/27/balcony-solar-panels-rising-utility-costs

What if neighbours worked together to make solar, battery backup, and home electrification easier and more affordable? I'm exploring a community-led model for Ottawa that focuses on transparency, resilience, and reducing costs through neighbourhood-scale adoption. No sales pitches. No exclusive vendors. Just neighbours helping neighbours make informed decisions. https://mgifford.github.io/neighbourhood-solar/ #Ottawa #SolarEnergy #ClimateAction #EnergyResilience #OpenSource
