Today is 2 years from #Helene wreaking havoc on our area of western North Carolina, hundreds of miles away from where it came ashore, and causing devastating flooding and mudslides, taking lives and homes.
This year mostly what we've had is drought. All those trees down from the storm and no rain are also not a good recipe.
I'm not allowed to talk about more water needed today, however.
Please visit #Asheville if you have any interest, our area could use the boost.

And here's a video of some of the changes, although they whip past the photos too fast. A lot of progress, but many people are still struggling.

We sometimes take a backroad between Saluda, NC and Tryon, NC called NC 176. It's a wiggly, rather mountain road next to the North Pacolet River.
In 2024 when #Helene devastated so much of Western North Carolina, a big stretch of this road was closed.
It's been 2 years, and we were just in the area, and wondered what is going on with recovery.
Here's the answer, via an excellent local video, taken only last month:

Speaking of #Helene, here is a story about people continuing to haul all that PVC piping out of the French Broad, now almost 2 years after the hurricane.
