The #HighCourt has found planning authorities are required to consider local #climatechange effects when approving #fossilfuel projects. 3 of the 5 judges found in favour of a Hunter Valley residents' group, which halted the #MountPleasant mine expansion last year in the #NSW Court of Appeal. The High Court agreed & the case is expected to have national implications for the way fossil fuel project approvals take #globalemissions & local climate change impacts into account. #auspol

If BP don’t think the #NorthSea is profitable for them…maybe that’s because it’s simply not and production has bean in decline for over a decade. This is already being seized upon by so called analysts (the rentagob quote used in Guardian comes from a graduate in War Studies) as evidence that there is no business faith in the new #Labour government. As wildfires rage, the world is backsliding on climate action.
