What a super-fun day I had. Volunteering at Pride in the Park in was so rewarding. It felt good knowing it was one small way I could contribute to the fight against bigotry. My role was helping performers.

I’m gonna summarize it into 3 good things:

  1. My new friend, Poison Waters (a Portland drag-queen hero). She was funny and clever and had lots of great things to say. What a gift she is to the world. She had me laughing so many times. And her MC skills were on point.

  2. Cuddles stood out among the array of cute pups on display. Her owners were two gay men who were identically dressed from head-to-toe (also cute). They clearly loved her and loved showing her off. And her temperament was a testament to this.

  3. Getting to be Saint Syndrome’s personal stage hand. They were nervous and alone. I was happy that I got to calm their nerves with my service.

Y’all. Volunteer. It’s rad.

#jews #lgbt #gay #drag #DragQueen #JewsAreScum Homosexuality Is Part of Jewish Tradition Contrary to the common perception, intimate relations between people of the same sex did not always have a negative image in Jewish communities. Ofri Ilany Aug 5, 2015 (...) In general, there is a perception that homosexuality is a vice originating in the East. Thus the Nazis charged sexologist and gay rights activist Magnus Hirschfeld that as a Jew he “brought the oriental vice to Germany.” (...) The Jews did not strictly preserve “the heterosexual principle.” Intimate relations between men existed in Jewish communities and apparently were also common. Historian Yaron Ben-Naeh has shown in his research that despite the explicit biblical prohibition, in Jewish communities in the Ottoman Empire same-sex relations were rather common. This is indicated by dozens of sources. Moreover, until the modern era, grown men who had a need for the favors of youths did not have a negative image in Jewish society. https://www.haaretz.com/jewish/2015-08-05/ty-article/.premium/homosexuality-part-of-jewish-tradition/0000017f-f64d-d5bd-a17f-f67f92080000

Sydney's Oxford Street went quiet this morning — #DragRace Down Under star Maxi Shield, 51, died today, five months after a cancer diagnosis, days before Sydney Mardi Gras. She performed at the 2000 Olympics closing ceremony and opened the 2002 Gay Games. Why it matters: #Drag queens are community infrastructure. https://thistleandmoss.com/p/the-daily-exhale-trump-fumes-scotus-does-their-job-paris-tells-big-oil-to-fuck-off
