dark and unpopular about Asperger
@punissuer@universeodon.com @joshsusser@autistics.life @punishmenthurts@autistics.life At this point I've read considerably more than NeuroTribes — I've read much (though not all) of the published back-and-forth between #Asperger's chief accuser, the historian Herwig Czech, and Asperger's defenders. I have to be tentative because interpretation of such history can require professional expertise, but with that caveat:
Czech is accusing Asperger of considerably more than collaborationism under pressure. He asserts that Asperger was freely and willingly aiding the Nazis in their project of eugenic mass murder, and AFAICT Czech does not even come close to establishing THAT. At most, Czech shows that Asperger acted in a way that likely resulted in the deaths of two children that he might have been able to save if he had made better choices. Czech does not show convincingly that, even in those cases, Asperger ever intended to bring about those children's deaths, nor that Asperger was responsible (even merely through poor judgment) for the deaths of any other children than those two. IMO, if Asperger had actually intended to get any children killed, he would have been able to rack up a death toll considerably higher than two — and Czech would have been able to prove it without making the inferential leaps he does.
