Shout-out to whoever put this on the reddit website. It's great at making me get off of reddit when I accidentally go there.
That's not even a joke, I genuinely appreciate this being built in.

Deeply, deeply disappointed that Count Binface didn't win.

Good news for all you AGP fans out there...
IntelilJ IDEA 2026.2 Beta includes support for Android Gradle Plugin 9.1.0!
Grab it from Toolbox today.
Here's a great video from Dave, with an overview of some exciting still-experimental Kotlin language features: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmPLlkJqxMo
Turns out that learning to create THING slowly, manually over time lets you gain experience with THING, and you can develop a fundamental understanding of what actually makes THING good.
If the cost of creating THING drops to ~0, these skills and *taste* are what really matter.
Gradle convention plugins are such a catch-22.
They're theoretically the proper way of organizing configuration to reuse it across modules.
But they're different and more complicated than normal config, so I really don't want to see them in samples for beginners...
A quick reminder for the 3-year anniversary of this blog post: "KMM" is deprecated.
As in, we no longer use "KMM" to talk about Kotlin Multiplatform for the mobile use case. It's all just called KMP now!
https://blog.jetbrains.com/kotlin/2023/07/update-on-the-name-of-kotlin-multiplatform/
Have you caught up with everything that's new in Kotlin 2.4 yet? Collection literals, new standard library functions, multiplatform improvements, and more!
All detailed in the video 👇
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RI4J0C2_FR8
Having a 1 TB SSD means I can only try developing projects in one ecosystem at a time.
There simply isn't enough storage to pull the dependencies for mobile things *and* Docker images for something backend-related at the same time...
The Uuid type in the standard library is now stable with Kotlin 2.4!
Work with v4 and v7 UUIDs, easily, with multiplatform support.
I made this overview video when the type was first introduced: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5EOsE_eJLE
And then more API updates in 2.3: https://youtu.be/_6PSSkqwbp8?&t=399
As we visit conferences this year, we keep bumping into developers from well-known companies and finding out that they've successfully adopted KMP and shipped it to production, without us even hearing about it 🤯
Have you shipped something with KMP? Let us know in the replies!
There's something super relaxing about a train ride with a good read.
POV: you tried opening Facebook but you're too quick on the keyboard
Happy to share that we have folks from the language design team blogging about new features!
Check out this post by Alejandro about how Kotlin is moving to a safer, Name-Based Destructuring syntax:

Friday night fun: migrated a great community library for particle effects from Jetpack Compose to Compose Multiplatform
Are you trying to convince decision makers in your company to use Kotlin? We have a great new landing page for that very scenario! It covers both Kotlin Multiplatform and backend development.
Check it out: https://kotlinlang.org/lp/kotlin-for-business/
A lot of things coming soon to the Kotlin YouTube channel - make sure you're subscribed to catch it all!

"The desktop app is running with Hot Reload. Navigate to the Speakers screen, filter for JetBrains speakers, and check if any of their names is too long to fit on a single line. If yes, make the columns larger until they all fit."

Some cool new features just dropped on https://klibs.io/ai
You can now connect your agents with Klibsio using either MCP or a dedicated skill. Check out the page for more info!
It puts Back to the Future in a different light when you realize that 88 is in miles per hour, which is actually quite fast.
If you had $500 of tokens to burn until the end of the work week... What would you use them on?
Does anyone have a working solution for hiding the autocorrect/suggestions on the keyboard with Compose? Seems like the intended way is to use KeyboardOptions(autoCorrectEnabled = false), but it only works with certain KeyboardTypes, and none of them are just plain text 😕
