I've been reading this book about whale brains and it's got me thinking what if we aren't the smartest animal on earth but we're only the smartest collective intelligence; i.e. when we all are able to network our brains together both in space with direct cooperation, and through time with writing.

I finally made the plunge and resurrected a laptop that was getting planned-obsoletely slow on windows and is now back to life as a peppy little Linux machine ( with Pop!_OS ).
Pretty pleased with it, even if it's a bit of a faff to switch. Especially given how expensive memory now is, I imagine a lot of people will be in this position

This is worrying given how expensive gas is going to get: that developers are switching back to gas boilers because data centres are taking all the grid capacity for new developments.

Cairn is a surprisingly thorough simulation of climbing, really fun so far but I did get obsessed with climbing all the bouldering routes in the starting area. Bit worried the survival mechanic will be a thing, hoping it's pretty light touch on that.
