I’m a Christian, a husband, and an assistive technology instructor with a real passion for accessibility and helping others gain independence through tech. I’ve always been drawn to audio—whether it’s radio dramas, producing content, or just kicking back with a good mix. I love reading, traveling, cooking, and digging into vintage tech from the ‘70s through the early 2000s. I’m also a big believer that humor is the salt that seasons just about everything in life.

Anyone want to know what it sounds like to zip line? Well, here is the sound of it. This happened on July 2, so this last Thursday. Me, my wife, and a few students from our center went to Travis Lake, zip line adventures. We took the longest line down, which was around almost 2000 feet I believe. Anyway, I used my Meta glasses to record this. I was determined to not scream, so I could get the best sound possible! All the screaming and stuff happens at the end. Enjoy. #Audio #NFB26 @ShariRockz@tweesecake.social

Great morning friends. Here’s an audio question for those who know more than I do about this. I am sitting on the back porch of my grandmother‘s house, recording some hummingbirds. It’s a beautiful sound. Unfortunately, all I have is my iPhone, and I’m using the Voice Memos app. In post production, I want to filter out the constant background white noise of cars in the distance. And I wanna focus in on the frequencies of the hummingbirds, in particular, to bring their hum up more. What filters should I use for this? Are there any filters that would work better than others in this case? This is really important to me. #Audio

Great morning fellow Mastodon friends. Here’s a question that came up because of a situation last night. We needed to use Siri in a noisy situation, but we couldn’t figure out how to use the type to siri command. It says to double tap on the bottom edge of your phone, but with voiceover, that does not seem to work. We know though, that it doesn’t work because VoiceOver is itself is on, and even the triple tap doesn’t work, as it brings up the context menu for the highlighted app. The type to siri setting is turned on. Any suggestions on how to get it to work? We even tried looking in the back tap settings, but the command does not appear there either. #Accessibility #A11y @ShariRockz@tweesecake.social
