@jaffathecake@mastodon.social Hey man it's my birthday today and it would mean a lot to me if you could delete your account

I need coffee. I've read "browser" as "Bowser" like 8 times this morning.
I quit coffee tho.
Anyway I hope Bowser stops pestering everyone with AI.
@seekingfreedom@retro.pizza got me Oblivion Remastered, Sonic Racers (PS5 Mario Kart on uppers), Metaphor, Expedition 33 Clair Obscur, and Ghost of Effing Yotei for my birthday. I've only managed to sample Oblivion, Sonic, and Metaphor so far - all fantastic.
So yeah, that rules.
Okay listen listen. Big idea. We make accounts that have men with hats, beards, sunglasses or maybe a stern look like their camera is a disappointment as their PFP.
When encountering a condescending sexist, you can private message these accounts with the account name and your response. The account sends a message on your behalf - no alterations - as a masculine conforming bearded man.
Suddenly, he starts absorbing your takes and responding with respect. "Why, what an intellectual, this like-minded man!" he will cry at his screen, add you as a friend even though you have different views, and invite you to play Helldivers 2 with the bros.
And you won't have to deal with any of that, because you're on your main account and won't get a single notification. The bot will continue to auto-respond using a list of Quentin Tarantino movies and sports teams and the text "haha" or "hahaha" before or after, until the recipient of the messages no longer responds.
Still workshopping.
You can tell when someone's an AI gooner because they'll get mad at women when they can't refresh their prompt for an even kinder answer.
@Lewie_Kong@retro.pizza The customization and changing tracks are a hoot. Really fun game, very satisfied.
@seekingfreedom@retro.pizza 's curation game is off the charts.
When folks come up with strategies for the front lines of a protest and do some vague, "This is what we should do!" and never attend protests and never leave their basement, what they're *really* doing is hoping someone younger and with more energy puts themselves at risk to fulfill the wish they typed into social media - for scenarios the poster has no experience with.
If one is not an actual strategist or organizer, please stop.
Feels to me like there's been some sudden decisions made by a small in-group which isn't a great natural fit for me. I'm a spicy guy, and I connect everything to the political or to society.
I've always held back a little for retro.pizza. Trying not to yuck yums, step on toes, or point out the most actually dark and problematic things I see about Monsterdon's movies.
I feel like I'm in a game store where people just want to have fun. They want to show their toys. They don't want to be reminded of the danger outside.
Previously mentioned in-group stated "as long as it doesn't aim to make people mad" it should be fine. Yet, I see decisions influenced by someone tone-policing an activist (who included filterable hashtags) that their post about a charity wrestling match fighting ICE was harmful. It didn't aim to make us mad, it was to give hope and show the good in the world.
But no CW, so we condescend and tone police?
My journey is fighting avoidant habits. I have to go - nothing personal. Love ya'll.
Almost done with Demon's Souls Remastered, just have the final castle 4-4 to go. It's been pretty breezy so far, most bosses 1 to 3 attempts with my OP magic build and falchion, so-
...Hm, dead.
Alright, let's try that again. This time I'll- dead
Hm. Maybe I'll try- dead
Nope. I'll just run past- dead
Hmm.
So anyway I'm playing Expedition 33 Clair Obscura now and it's incredible so far. I understand the hype.
Since I got that PS5, and I was sitting there with my hyper-focused and modest 2 game library of Death Stranding 2 and Demon's Souls... well, Karla made sure I now have a bag full of PS5-game-shaped gifts to open, and I'm sure ya'll have noticed already but she's an absolutely killer curator of media.
I'm gonna' have a full library? For my new console? On my birthday? Moi? ![]()
Opened our shared reminders app to double-check grocery pick up time to find Karla added this photo of me to the note.
In my spare time I've been shifting between Demon's Souls and Death Stranding 2. Something about using actual discs helps me commit for awhile to each game as well - PS5 doesn't get the credit for that but it's a welcome return, I've been doing mostly digital for so long.
In Death Stranding 2, I've finally gotten to the part of the game where the meat and potatoes seem to be at but I've barely scratched the surface. Thoroughly enjoying the weird.
A lot of people gave it the criticism that it's just more of the same (Kojima said something similar), but I disagree. I see a few ways they've improved on their tech already, including more intuitive climbing, better looking landscapes, and a whole bunch of new items, enemies and support buildings before I've even really unlocked anything. A puzzle mini game as a skill tree too!
Looking forward to more.
Making some more progress on Demon's Souls. Never finished it before.
Made a wizard this time with a magic falchion and heater shield, and medium armor. Magic is ridiculous in this installment of the souls series, and I'm only getting slower so we're going to take the hard game as easy as possible.
I love the simple mechanics and controls combined with the hyper-detailed graphics of Bluepoint. No jumping, drop-stabbing, or omni-directional rolling. You roll side to side backward or forward only.
Since the levels branch from a single hub in an organized manner unlike the intertwined world of Dark Souls, each branch is linear but immaculate. Demon's Souls level designs feel carefully paced and deliberate with every step I take - Castle Boletaria being my personal favorite example with its mixture of traps, knights, demons and dragons. The resources you find are precious and taking advantage of the resources of the different worlds is key to advancement in others.
Looking forward to more!
I suck at saying goodbye to people.
I used to simply vanish from folks' lives like it didn't have any consequences until I realized that's a huge boundary breach to not say goodbye when leaving.
But today I had to say goodbye to a friend I shared a lot of game time with. We had a lot of neat adventures. We had a small group together of 4. Then 3. Then 2. Then 3. Then 4. Then 2.
Myself and them.
I was always the one to be consulted to strategize on how to handle the others. I would be consulted about conflicts I wasn't there for, but in ways that asked me for deep personal advice that... honestly should have been reserved for their husband? For an hour in the middle of my day unplanned? Like an emergency?
Ultimately, I was the one who said "yes" and showed up for it. I failed to hold a boundary.
People see my lack of boundaries and are like, "Oh sick, this guy wants me all up in their boundaries."
Since I'm working on this, I've at least sent them my goodbye.
There's two of me, but which one to shoot?!

Follow me on my new profile to be sure.
@Lewie_Kong@retro.pizza A lesser-known channel I enjoy is 8 Bites. Eastern European spooky lady with silly husband being a peanut gallery. Kinda' chill, kinda' fun, and good game selection.
Also, Two Best Friends' playthrough of Yakuza 0 might be one of the best things I've seen on YouTube.
The Guyver and MacGyver both existing confuses me more than it should.
@Lewie_Kong@retro.pizza Thanks Lewie! 🫂✨
@Lewie_Kong@retro.pizza How is it so far? Been curious about solo gaming for a minute but haven't tried it yet.
