Serj Tankian chose to wear a mask while signing autographs at his new coffee venue Kavat Coffee earlier this week.

Protecting your health and the community around you is still relevant and still matters. Clean air and small precautions aren’t overreactions, they’re care in action.

When COVID-19 cases fall, protections often disappear before transmission does.

That is how one wave quietly becomes the next.

Breaking the cycle means keeping measures like masking, testing, and cleaner indoor air in place a little longer, until spread is truly under control. The tools exist. We have to use them long enough to work.

And here’s the part people miss: dose matters. The more virus you inhale, the higher your risk. Masks reduce that exposure, and when both people mask, protection compounds. So no, it’s not that “masks don’t work.” It’s that not all masks, or how they’re used, work the same. Yes, We Continue Wearing Masks—Here’s Why: Common Questions Answered - WHN

Picture a typical family gathering today. Most people have moved on from masking: kids run around freely, aunts and uncles chat over snacks, and only a couple of family members still choose to wear well-fitted masks. Soon, the questions start rolling in: “Isn’t the pandemic over?” “Aren’t you done with masks yet?” “But you’re not high-risk!” This Q&A provides evidence-based responses to these and other common objections, offering insight into why we still mask, filter the air, and open windows—k

COVID levels may be lower right now, but this is exactly when prevention can make the biggest difference.

Wastewater data shows that COVID often follows a pattern of major seasonal waves. By layering protections early, wearing N95s, improving indoor air, testing, and staying home when sick, we can help slow a summer surge before it builds.

COVID prevention is collective action.

Long COVID can only occur after a COVID infection, so preventing infection and reinfection matters. Cleaner indoor air, access to high-quality respirators, staying home when sick, and reliable testing help protect everyone.

Reducing your risk of serious illness is not only about diet, exercise and routine screenings. Preventing COVID infections can also be an important part of protecting your long-term health.

COVID can affect multiple systems throughout the body and has been associated with increased risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cognitive problems, immune dysfunction and Long COVID. These effects can occur after infections that initially seemed mild and the risk may increase with repeated infections

🚨 A new COVID variant, BA.3.2 ("Cicada"), has been detected in the U.S. and internationally.

With 50+ spike mutations relative to BA.3, significant immune evasion is expected. Continued precautions matter.

How to protect yourself and others:
- Improve indoor air quality (ventilation + filtration)
- Wear a respirator-quality mask in shared spaces
- Stay up to date on vaccination
- Test if symptomatic or after exposure
- Avoid in person meetings and stay home when sick

Cyclospora cases are increasing in multiple U.S. states, particularly Michigan and Ohio.

Cyclosporiasis is a parasitic illness that can cause watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, and fatigue, with symptoms that may persist for weeks or return after seeming to improve.

It spreads through contaminated food or water. Protect yourself by washing produce well if it has smooth surfaces, and cooking or heat-treating (70 C / 158 F for 15 minutes) produce with crevices like berries, (...)

The most reliable way to reduce your risk is to prevent getting COVID in the first place. Clean air, well-fitted respirator masks, testing regularly and staying home when sick all help lower exposure and protect your health long term.

Every COVID-19 infection carries a risk of Long COVID - affecting the brain, heart, lungs, and immune system in ways that can last months or longer.

Prevention still works.

- Masking: Wear a high-quality mask (N95 or better) to reduce spread
- Ventilation: Bring in fresh air and use HEPA filtration indoors
- Distancing: Reduce crowding, use hybrid/remote options when possible
- Testing: Test early and often
- Vaccination: Helps protect against severe illness, especially with other measures

A federal judge has blocked actions by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The ruling blocks changes to the childhood vaccine schedule, new appointments to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), and related vaccine recommendations. The court found these actions likely did not follow legally required procedural and scientific standards.
