Terrence Tao publicly shared a conversation he had with ChatGPT about the Jacobian conjecture, now falsified, by a counterexample from Anthropic. So if you ever wanted to see how your conversations with AI compare with a top mathematician, here you go.

"Oregon approves PGE's 29.7% rate hike for data centers under landmark law."

In Oregon, the power utility Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) got legislative approval to charge data centers higher power rates. Wonder if this will be the beginning of a trend?

A few days ago I was talking with a friend about the war in Crimea, and this vague memory came back to me of, wasn't there this one time when I saw people online talking about going to a rave on the peninsula of Crimea, people were exchanging directions on how to get to the location of the rave, what airport to fly into, and so on?

I decided to try to Google it, and, of course, boom! the name popped up instantly: Kazantip

"A pull request that steals a repository's secrets by hiding the malicious instruction inside a PNG that AI code reviewers never open has been built."

This takes advantage of the fact that AI models are "multimodal" and see images -- and read text in images.

'Ghostcommit' hides prompt injection in images to fool AI agents, steal secrets

A PNG hiding a prompt injection could steal your repo's secrets, researchers demonstrate. The technique, dubbed 'Ghostcommit,' slipped past AI code reviewers CodeRabbit and Bugbot, which never open image files at all, then convinced a coding agent to read a repo's .env and write every secret into the code as a list of numbers.

According to this post (from David Shapiro), Anthropic's Mythos model has 10 trillion parameters and uses a mixture-of-experts architecture. I don't know about all of you but -- 10 trillion parameters! Holy moly, I had no idea models had gotten that large.

Mythos is the model that people have been talking about lately because it is claimed to be amazingly good at finding security vulnerabilities.

"AI is an incredibly lonely experience", says Dennis Lemm.

"I find myself holding on to a work reality that was shaped by coding together, solving problems together -- and yes, the occasional Nerf gun battle or foosball game was a welcome break for passively mulling over a bug, which back at your desk would often get solved pretty quickly."

"I just discussed the best solution to the problem with my agent."

"Online bot traffic will exceed human traffic by 2027, Cloudflare CEO says."

What he's talking about is the web searches done when you ask an AI chatbot a question. He's thinking if you're shopping for a digital camera, you might visit 5 sites, but if you ask an AI chatbot what digital camera you should buy, it might visit 5,000 sites.

5,000 sounds like a bit much but that's what he says.

EsoLang-Bench: Evaluating Genuine Reasoning in Large Language Models via Esoteric Programming Languages

Large language models achieve near-ceiling performance on code generation benchmarks, yet most of the programming languages used by popular benchmarks such as SWE-bench and HumanEval (e.g. Python, JavaScript) are squarely in-distribution. They appear at scale in pre-training corpora and are heavily reinforced during post-training. To study LLM performance on unfamiliar programming languages, we introduce EsoLang-Bench, a benchmark using five esoteric programming languages (Brainfuck, Befunge-98,

DeepSeek came out with a new model architecture called Engram. The idea is to create a memory system for the transformer architecture in neural networks by grouping together 2 tokens, or 3 tokens, and so on... N tokens. They call these "N-grams", even though they refer to tokens rather than words. They use a "lightweight multiplicative-XOR hash" to turn the compressed tokens into something that can be looked up in a lookup table.

Oh, not only that, but "xAI's servers" were really Google Cloud Storage servers, so both xAI and Google were actually getting copies of all the code.

Seriously?

Also, the whole website looks AI-generated. What do you want to be when you give your AI-generated output to this site to "humanize" it, a LLM with a "humanize this" prompt does the "humanizing"?

I'm posting this for the lolz. I don't recommend anyone actually try this service.
